Hey - I need a quick answer for this one Dx

I don't have any more rat food; last night I gave them the last little pieces. My parents won't drive me down to the store, and it's too far to walk - i'll have to go tomorrow. I've given them a little bit of chicken and some fruits and carrots, but they're still hungry. What's something good to feed them if you're out of food? I read that their diet isn't very fattening and really healthy, and it's hard to substitute it.

It should be really easy to feed them. My ratties get human foods all the time... as in, a breakfast in morning, dinner at night. They just get dry food a couple of times a week as an extra.

Just give them a dinner.... some ideas..... toast, cracker, fruits (nothing citrus) - apple, grapes, strawberry, banana, tomato, etc...... vegetables - carrot, broccoli, some lettuce, cucumber.

For breakfast you could give them a bowl of cereal (nothing too sugary) with milk and pop it in the microwave for a second to heat it up for them a bit. Or egg is fine for them if you scrambled an egg. Porridge..... again toast.

If you're unsure of what human foods they can have, try getting baby food (I know you can't go to the store at the moment, but it could be like a backup). Stuff for babies won't have added salt or additives etc. :) My rats love babyporridge ahah <3

and they have a whole list of foods that rats can't have. Anything not on that list, can be given to your rats.

Just avoid icky nasties like deep-fried stuff. A bit of chicken is good, so is oatmeal and egg, and even some doggy kibble won't hurt for one night.
