Horse Form
Horse Name: Balios, meaning 'dappled' or 'piebald' in Greek.
Age: Ten years old.
Gender: Stallion
Size: 15'2 hands
Position in herd: Lead stallion
Personality: Balios has a large amount of responsibility on his shoulders for a relatively young stallion. He has to lead the Equidius. This makes him very serious and earnest, and very firm. He does not play, and he does not laugh. He only really thinks about protecting his herd. He would quite like to laugh. Hidden, he has a caring, gentle and cheerful disposition. However, he finds no time to be cheery when trying to lead his herd. So he bottles it up. He leaves playing to the others, and gets his satisfaction from seeing them happy.

This he carried with him, even when his father was crushed in a rockfall and his mother broke her leg on the treacherous cave floor. He grew to be a strong colt, strapping and tall. He was looking to be a good horse for 'the lead defender. He got on well with the herd leaders, and did what he was told.
However, the herd leaders died unexpectedly in a carbon dioxide build-up, and the herd was in a panic. They had not made any plans for this eventuality. The leaders had had no offspring, and there had never been any deputies. Somehow, before he realised what he was doing, Balios began to take control. It was small things at first, like where to forage and where to post defenders. After a year or two of this, though, Balios had taken over. None of the Equidius knew what to do about this. They were used to seeing fights for dominance, and accepting such dictatorship. It was never said, but it was known: Balios was in charge.
The winds are changing now. The cave is growing barren, and the air from the outside world is less tainted than it once was. Balios is about to make the choice to bring his herd Outside...
