In an attempt to start another wolf discussion that doesn't involve hunters: Did you know that black wolves originally got their colors from breeding with domestic dogs? It's a color mutation.

how can that be when the first pet dogs were wolves? Every color of the dog originated from wolves, mixed with other wild breeds, there for giveing the domestic dogs their color.

i dont get it. wolves came before domestic dogs, they are the ansistors of domestic dogs. that's nautral.

i care for all animals, not just wolves. they are my fave, but not every thing i think about has to do with wolves.

Yes, wolves did come before domestic dogs. But they probably bred with domestic dogs after they were created to result in the black color some wolves have. Genetic research has proven so.

Sometimes i see pictures of two diffrent colored wolves with black pups. Is that because their family members might have been a black wolf? Or could the other wolf not be the mate and the real mate is black?
