Prologue
I was watching him. He was mine, but he didn't know me for what I truly was. Should I tell him? A tear rolled down my cheek. I was afraid he would fear me and leave if I told him. But he had to know.
Chapter 1
"Hurry up!" My brother, Gray, yelled at me. "We're going to be late!"
"Shut up!" I yelled back. "We still have half an hour!" It was the first day of school and I couldn't decide between a pair of skinny jeans and a short-sleeved purple shirt, or an obscenely revealing blue silk sleeveless, v-neck dress. I finally decided on my dress and black five-inch heels. I opened my bedroom door and grabbed my silver backpack. I grabbed the keys to my black Porche and ran out, slipping into the driver's seat.
I parked the car and turned off the engine. Locking the door behind me, I got out, stepping onto the cold, wet pavement. Amidst all the usual scents of blood, a new one, sweet and tempting, called to me. Confused, I turned toward the scent…and froze. A black-haired boy with fair skin was stepping out of a ford 4x4. He turned, and his beautiful brown eyes met my blue ones. We stared at each other for a moment, then I shook myself and walked to class.
All day, I was thinking about the boy whose blood called to me, whose eyes pierced right to my soul. He had captured my heart, and yet I didn't even know his name.
At lunch, my eyes scanned for him. I smelled him coming through the doors and I made my way to him. "Hello." I said, smiling softly at him. "My name is Angel Sandchesters. What's yours?"
"Alexander Black. But everyone calls me Alex." The boy said shyly.
"Would you like to come sit with me and my brother?" I asked him. Odd. I thought. I can't hear what he's thinking.
"Um…sure." Alex said uncertainly. "Lemme get my lunch."
"No hurry." I said, smiling softly at Alex, my golden hair sparkling in the light. I watched Alex shake himself out of a sort of trance. He blinked.
"Uh...I'll get some food, then?" he said, a little uncertainly.
I laughed. "I'll be right over there." I say, pointing to the table my brother was sitting at. Gliding over to the table as if my feet didn't touch the ground, I watched Alex stare after me for a moment before getting a slice of pizza and some apple juice. Skipping to the table Gray and I were sharing, I hummed happily. I slid into my seat, at which point, Gray gave me his, "I am so going to kill you!" look.
Laughing, I didn't notice when Alex sat next to me until he tentatively tapped my shoulder. I turned and smiled at him.
"Hello, Alex." I said, lowering my eyelids slightly. I was flirting with him, and he knew it.
