Past
It was the day after her parents died, and tears still stained Isabelle's face as she filled out the army application form. She wiped away her tears and picked up her form. You have to be tough, Isabelle. It makes you stronger. Her father's words echoed around her mind. She sighed and opened the motel door. She stepped outside and weakly smiled at the manager, giving her the keys to her motel room. She unlocked her car and sat down. She started her car, and backed out of the parking lot slowly, her mind rushing. Her recent job applications came back empty, and this was her last choice. She drove for a while until she pulled into the next parking lot. She slowly got out of the car, knowing that applying would change her life forever.

Isabelle watched for the signal before she advanced towards the warehouse, she shivered, her teeth chattering. Although it looked abandoned, one of their sources had informed them of a nuclear opperation going on in here. She moved slowly through snow, and watched for enemies. She crouched down, and whispered "Do you see anybody?" The man to her right shook his head, but he was quickly corrected when men with guns poured out of the open doors of the warehouse. Isabelle's face was frozen in shock at the number of how many people there were. She didn't move until she saw something flying through the air. "Grenade!" Someone behind her shouted. She tried to dive out of the way, but it was too late, and the grenade exploded in front of her, blastig her backwards.

Isabelle stared at her ugly skin. It was deformed and burnt, and it hurt horribly. She didn't dare to move. She didn't dare to talk. She wanted to close her eyes, or to focus on something other than her ugly body, but it hurt to bad to move them or close them. So she just sat there, staring at her hideous arm. Wishing that she would have died.
Present Day
Isabelle slowly regained consiousness. Her head was pounding, and she reached up to rub it, trying to soothe the throbbing. She stared at her hand in shock. It was there! She examined it closely, baffled. How could her hand actually be back? Then she remembered that she had signed up for a special program. She smiled and continued examining her once burnt arms. She reached up to touch her face. Isabelle sighed with relief, glad that it too was healed. She jumped up, surprised. Fire had come out of her mouth when she sighed! She rolled her eyes at how stupid she was being. How could fire come out of my mouth? Isabelle thought I'm just imagining things. She laughed at her stupidity, but her eyes went wide as fire came out a second time. What is happening to me? Isabelle thought frantically.
