{ We bit our lips.
she looked out the window. } Nick found himself grinning at her formal British accent. Was she always this way? He shrugged and smiled warmly. "Yeah, but I try not to pry into other's emotions," he said, pausing before shaking his head. "Wait, that's a lie. If you're my friend, you can expect me to be a bit nosy when you're feeling down." He stopped for a few moments to laugh, recalling a time when all of his friends would become fed up with his nosiness and refusal to leave them alone. His laugh soon faded, and he was left grinning, two dimples appearing in his right cheek. He slowly dropped his arm down to his side, but then again, brought it back up to the nape of his neck. "Yeah, I hope I'll get used to it," He murmured, a small smirk playing at his lips. "It's just a bit unsettling to wake up every morning feeling dizzy and having a massive headache. It's like a daily hangover." He joked, remembering how awful he would feel in the morning after being out with the guys all night. His smiled softly and tilted his head causing a few blondish brown strands to fall into the middle of his forehead. "How long have you been here?" He asked curiously, wiggling his fingers in the pockets of his jeans. "You seem to know your way around here," He said, glancing around the building. He knew Essie was a few years younger than him, and that caused him to wonder how old she had been when she had first arrived. He smiled softly to himself, feeling a bit embarrassed at the fact that he didn't know the way around himself. However, he had been kidnapped and brought here without much warning, so he shrugged of the fact. Plus, Essie was a very nice girl, and she actually seemed interested in talking to him. He offered her a kind smile, and vowed silently to himself that he would be a loyal friend. He didn't know anyone else, yet, but he seemed contented with just knowing Essie at the moment.

Why don't you be the a r t i s t and make me out of clay?
Why don't you be the w r i t e r and decide the words I say?
Essie shrugged a little, "I can't say otherwise as I would probably do the same." She admitted, quickly joining in with him In a short moment of cheery laughter. She wouldn't deny it if someone asked if she was willing to be nosy and but in on everyone's personal feelings, thoughts, and emotions. It was probably reasoning on the lines of taking responsibility for her own actions, even if part of her told her it wasn't the same thing.
As she listened to what he had to say next, her expression started to slowly fade from joyful and giving away her delight at the present addition of socialization, to a completely puzzled expression. "Hangover...?" She didn't care that she sounded silly not knowing a word in the teenage vocabulary that she, being sixteen, should probably know the definition of. The word wasn't necessarily a new word to her mind-dictionary, as Essie had obviously heard the word in subtle word exchanges about parties the previous night, but she had never used it herself, nor had she ever experienced what she was sure was something to do with your mental stability, so she was going to be a tad curious.
With her head titled sideways, and her eyebrows furrowed, Essie slowly came to the realization that he probably wouldn't want to explain such a word to a younger person. "Never mind.. She mumbled to herself, giving small laugh at her stupidity. "I assure you that it does get easier from here. Promise." There was a flash of seriousness across Essie's soft facial features for a split second as she spoke the word promise, because she took any of her vows just as serious as she took her life, as where would the world's trust go if no one kept the word?
She mentally shook her annoying thoughts away, and gave him most of her attention again. She could never give something her full attention because her mind wandered and her imagination took control. It was troubling on some days, but he really didn't care much about what she learned inside a class room. It was all the knowledge she consumed learning through life lessons that mattered to Essie. "Oh, me? Only since I was thirteen. Not long." Essie always told herself that three years was never as long as some made it out to be, so she could stay optimistic about the future, where she could return home and not be out casted by "Friends" and family because of her wings. "And that school is not that complicated to figure out, so don't worry." She reassured him with a supportive grin. She probably wouldn't bring up that it took her a fair bit of time to learn the all the routes of this building.
As Essie gazed, with lots of effort on her part, over Nick's shoulder as he was a bit taller then herself, she noticed a few kids with faces that she had not seen before now emerging from halls and rooms, or some making light conversation with others. I guess of they bring one student, then others have to follow. She thought to herself, finding it a decent solution to the sudden eruption in the population of new students.

{ And I could see clearly.
that the terrible line was drawn. } Nick grinned brightly, revealing two perfect rows of pearly white teeth. Laughter danced in the depth of his blue eyes. So Essie was nosy as well, huh? He chuckled at the thought of snooping around the school with her to find clues and was reminded of Scooby Doo, which only made him burst out laughing. He tried in vain to hold in his laughter at Essie's reaction to his little hangover comment. Wiping a tear from his eye, he straightened up and combed through his spiky hair with his fingers. For a moment, he thought about how to briefly explain the word without giving her the wrong impression of himself. "Think of a hangover as a huge headache," he said, nodding slowly. It wasn't the exact truth, but it wasn't a lie either. Hopefully, Essie would be contented with his explanation.
He stared at her when she mentioned that she had been attending the school since she was thirteen. However, she also mentioned that it wasn't too long ago. "So you must be sixteen, seventeen?" He asked curiously, recalling when he was that age. There wasn't that many good things to remember. He turned slowly as the sound of voices and footsteps reached his ears and saw a few people strolling around the corridor. They were mostly girls, and now, a new question found its way into his head. Would he find a girlfriend here? At first, he wasn't all too worried about that, but after seeing so many pretty faces, he couldn't help but feel curious. His eyes landed on Essie again. Now she was definitely pretty, but he wasn't sure how to treat someone so much younger than him.

Essie watched Nick laughed with her own burst of laughter and wide smile. Laughter was contagious, and he noticed like like fingerprints, everyone had their own unique laugh. She also came to realization that people do not sound the same to others as they do to themselves. The world and it's inhabiters were quite an interesting group of subjects. "Huge headaches suck." She lifted one of the corners of we lip higher then the other, creating something like an understanding grin. "I hope I never get a hangover." She spoke it mostly to herself, treating it like a mental note that she shared with Nick and any by passers that have the guts to eavesdrop. Though, she had her doubts that a headache of painful proportions was all hangover was. It just didn't seem to be like the element to stand alone.
"Sixteen." She said with no hesitation. She was proud of her age, but often skipped her birthdays as she didn't have many to celebrate with. "And if you don't mind my asking, how old are you?" She didn't wish to sound nosy, but in her own opinion, it was only fair. Essie had remembered being called unbiased, but she had also been referred to as the other way around, so she was at a cross road as to where she stood between the two words.
She watched his eyes wander towards some of the other kids like her's had, and she wondered if he was thinking about friendship. Essie had personally watched friendship unfold easily, and he was friendly enough to quickly make friends with anyone he struck a conversation with. Which was completely different then Essie's methods, the ones that made her basically anti-social in everyone's mind, which she was pretty okay with.
