Scanner Darkly

Postby apache~ » Wed Sep 14, 2011 3:42 pm

I'm supposed to act like they aren't here. Assuming there's a "they" at all. It may just be my imagination. Whatever it is that's watching, it's not human... It doesn't ever blink.

What does a scanner see? Into the head? Down into the heart? Does it see into me, into us? Clearly or darkly? I hope it sees clearly, because I can't any longer see into myself. I see only murk. I hope for everyone's sake the scanners do better. Because if the scanner sees only darkly, the way I do, then I'm cursed and cursed again.

I'll only wind up dead this way, knowing very little, and getting that little fragment wrong too.

[[ experimenting, thought it turned out intersting so i would post it here. rewatched A Scanner Darkly, mainly because my sister's on drugs and I've been thinking about it a lot. it's rated R for sure so unless you have permission to watch such movies just read the quote and enjoy it's magnificence.

one layer, done in apache's colors :/ ]]

I really, really like this :> You choose your negative space so very carefully, it's inspiring. I would love to see what you would do with printmaking equipment - repeating patterns on cloth, etc.

I'm sorry to hear that about your sister. I was looking up some of her artwork after you posted the previous picture with her character. Her art is nice, but there is a lot there that is disturbing. It is sad in a lot of ways, I'm sure.

I've never watched Scanner Darkly or heard of it. (I did a wikipedia search just after posting this. It looks like an interesting film.) I like the emotion you portrayed here with the closed eyes, almost like the character is wincing in pain.
Looking for: Halloween 2019 items. I have tokens but missed the trade in times due to no internet access the end of October.
