I do not believe this would be fair to them. Would changing it to a rat from 2009 Febuary 14th would be fairer to them?

I'd say that rare rats are not really rare, cause they are worth less.

I'm pretty sure rare rats are rare. They're not in a huge demand, which does effect what people would pay for them, but that doesn't mean they're just so easy to find they're "worthless"
As for the trade, I'm not sure so you should get another opinion, I'm going to say it's close to fair at least. But as said, you should get another opinion
