I see no problem hunting wolves to keep populations in check (and obvious populations of other wildlife).

I don't agree with killing for sport with any animal and would hope that the animal would be put to good use after it's demise of sorts (I know it's weird with carnivores as sometimes the meat isn't particularly to taste for quite a few folks). I'm sure the pelts could be used.

As sure as the rivers reach the seas,
back in his arms is where she'll be.

Totally support.
Love breaks the machine
Everything's half apart, what can it mean
How can I trust my fractious heart
Knowing I have the enemy gene

Well, fact is that people must stop overpopulation when needed, otherwise other animals might disapear or people will get serious trouble. And, overpopulation means starvation for the wolves themselves - a shot of a hunter is awful for the wolf, for a few seconds maximum. Starvation is the most painful , awful and longest death. So I do 'support' wolf hunting but only when needed.

I must say, I am not in total support of this, but I guess I can reason with what you are saying. As long as they only target the wolves that are maybe loners, which tend to kill more freely and often, and the elder, or deceased ones, to keep the population clean and sufficient. Maybe relocating is a decent idea too, for wolves can adapt. I do know that some people in fact kill for sport, and at first, when I saw the title, my stomach twisted and flames ignited in me, but after reading, they had died down a bit. I certainly understand what all of you are saying, but I will never fully support it, only due to my beliefs, and strong love for animals of any kind. Some people just have common misperceptions :3 Good luck to you all!

I understand completely what you are staying. I do get a bit sad when anybody kills a snake, but what makes them different from any other creature? As long as it is done humanely it's death is no different then any other death.

I guess I must agree with the 'what makes them different', but only in a way or two. I guess what makes them different is the fact that some die, that in a regular day, wouldn't have died, that might have later had a family, or currently does have a family. As I was thinking thoroughly about the whole killing livestock thing, I had to run across the subject that well, we moved into their territory, even though it was years and years back, the new generations learned from the older ones, that in their minds, the food was placed there for them. And something the farmers could do to protect them, is invest in electric wire, that hardly costs anything :3 My neighbors by my land have some for their horses, so they don't get loose. ^.^ But again, I do understand what you are coming from. I am just naturally very defensive xD

Yeah, using electic fence could help, but we still wont use it. We are the old barbwire cowboys lol.
There's something to be said for a place that hasn't had all the rough rode out of it.

Heh. Our neighbors use barbwire as well. The horses didn't care, they still pushed it over. o.o

Ours don't. We have ranch horses, most of them absolutely don't try to get out.
