Recent Rarity Change List [January Update in progress!!]

Anyone think the Shima Longtail might go rare? It's unlikely, because I've seen many of them, but based on demand and anyone who hoards them..

Demand has nothing to do with rarity though.

If a CS-rich user hoardered them so badly that only a small handful were left in circulation (ie: for trade on an active account), they would still be listed as uncommon, even though it would cost users a Very Rare to get them because trade-wise there would be the same supply available as the average Very Rare pet.

... that would be an interesting experiment. It's a shame my favourite pet is on the Rares List, if he wasn't I'd attempt it just to see what happened.

The Shima Longtail? I've no idea, 50,000? 80,000? We have over 180k members at the moment, but a lot wouldn't be active. I have no idea what the vc/common/uncommon/rare/vr/omgsr cut offs are. They are determined by % though.

That was a massively wild guess, but there'd be a ton of them. Think about it - there's more uncommon Shima Longtails on user accounts than there are rare bunnies from 2011 Easter. That said, it could be as low as 20,000, I really don't know what the cut off is.

Speaking of which, I wonder if the last 2 Totoro-purchased bunnies will hit rare soon?

Well here's a thought. We do not know the percentage cutoffs for the different rarities but there's this...
I just looked at Hunter The Hunter's collection of maps. (The ones you traded to him for your set of Royal Lions at the Faire a few weeks ago) He's got 15,993. This means he released that many sets of Royal Lions into circulation. And they are not Rare but Uncommon. Put another way, there are 15,933 of each lion as they were released as a set. So we know to become rare there has to be at least a little less than this number. Therefore there have to be AT LEAST 16,000 Shima Longtails. I don't think there are 30 thousand though just because there were far far fewer members back then. (don't know the exact number) And while each person did not get a Shima Longtail from their adoptions that month. Some people got two or three so this might even it out. Can anybody find out how many members there were listed back in November of 2009?

I can't find Nov 09, but I did find that on Dec 19, 2009, there were 67,026 members.
