Tyler.
I squeeze my eyes shut, as the low rumble of the constant traffic slowly wakes me up. I tense my muscles, my back aching from lying on the hard ground for so long in an awkward position. My burgundy hair lays flat on my face, only ruffling slightly in the cold breeze.
A loud honk from a vehicle in the traffic suddenly jerks me awake. My eyes open wide, and I quickly sit up, and then groans as my head starts pounding from moving too quickly. I rub my eyes tiredly, and looks around, bewildered.
As I look, I put my left hand on the ground, leaning on it absently, but I suddenly withdraw it with a quiet hiss as the pain from my wound where that dumb animal bit me. I look at it, and is surprised to see that it is almost healed. I glance at the others around me, and sees Ryan and Lucy on their feet, I slowly get up, my muscles stiff, and my legs aching from where I must have ran yesterday.
I hear Lucy speak, and I narrow my eyes in the darkness of the alley, my eyes catches the movement of the traffic on the street in front. I clear my throat,
"We seem to be in some sort of alley."
I state the obvious, my voice rough from a hard night's sleep. I rub my head and yawns, stretching my arms out in front of me.
Tamara.
I finally come around, hearing the voices of the others. I stay very still, in case there is some sort of danger, but when I hear Tyler's voice, I raise my head slightly, and sees the others standing. I scramble onto my feet quickly, a bit embarrassed about being the last one to wake up. I breathe quickly, the sounds of the ongoing traffic filling my ears.
I squint my eyes, trying to remember what happened last night. It slowly comes, the lab, everyone wanting to go in, the people, the poor animals. I look at my wrist, where I got bitten by one. I frown, trying to remember what the animal was, but all I remember is the dark shapes and the scared yelps and hisses. They must have been pretty scared to be that aggressive, the poor things.
I stand there, wrapping my arms around myself to keep warm, shivering a bit. I slowly walk forward, next to Tyler, I bite my lip, my green eyes worried and confused, hoping someone will say something relieving, like 'Haha, tricked you!'
But I know deep inside, that nobody will say that. What happened last night may be unclear, but it was real. Not some sort of joke.
