Agent Seven leaned back against the wall of an ice-cream parlor, laptop on her lap and earbuds in her ears. Her eyes were fixed on the screen, and anyone passing by would have thought that she was just another college student, enjoying the wonderful late-summer weather on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. In any case, they paid no notice to her. The government building across the street loomed like a giant marble beast, its shadow ready to swallow anyone who came too close. A list of code was scrolling down the screen of Agent Seven's computer, and every once in a while she would stop it, change a bit of code here, snip a bit off there, tweak this piece right at the bottom. Then she would let it scroll again, eyes searching the building's defense for the little openings that she could break and gain entrance through. Darkness from all sides. Falling through space- had she been captured? Tranquilized? She still had her laptop clenched in her hands- surely they would have taken it from her? Then she felt cold air hit her face and she twisted, landing catlike on three limbs while her left hand kept a tight grip on her all-important laptop. Jumping to her feet, the woman backed into the shadows without a sound, observing what appeared to be a gathering of strangely-dressed people down the lane. Had they drugged her with something? Some kind of hallucinogenic, probably. Well, she wouldn't tell these hallucinations anything, in case it came out of her unconscious mouth and into the ears of her captors. She switched the mode on the ipod from Line A to Music, and let one earbud dangle down the front of her shirt as she sauntered up to the group. She had designed her music player herself, hacked into it and changed things around so that, not only did it have an impossible code, but it could also be used as a communication device.
