Is that true? I sure hope so.

I've heard the same thing, and I hope it's true as well. n_n
My area was hit this morning and earlier today, and my area has been without power for ~10 hours now because of a tree that hit the power cables outside my house. We're running a generator so we have some power, but the internet connection is slow, cell service is almost nonexistant (a cell tower may have been knocked out) and not all of our power outlets are working because the generator can only handle so much.
My family was pretty lucky-- we were anticipating having a tree fall on the kitchen, but it turns out that the tree that we were expecting to fall on the kitchen stayed clear of the house. On the down side, a friend of mine from another state had a tree hit his house, and one of my parents' best friends also had their house hit by a tree.

After NYC, the hurricane headed towards us.
It weakened a lot, I've heard, and it only seemed like a bunch of rain and wind. But in the morning, when my parents went out to buy food (my paranoid mom used all the food in the fridge in case the power went out), they said they found a bunch of fallen trees. There's this huge one in my neighbor's yard that splintered like a pencil, so I guess it was a lot stronger than I thought.

x: Mm.
At least you're alright. The boyfriend said it wasn't too bad, but it still scared him enough to make him call me, which usually never happens. He's been keeping me updated, and I should be on the phone with him again in about 20 mins. Luckily he's not in the part of MA that's getting hit the worst.
His cable still works, but his internet is out, that's about it. And the only thing that could hurt them is the trees falling.
Also, he was watching the news last time I called, and I was listening with him. The news said something about a man and a woman walking on the beach during the hurricane. Why? Because it was their honeymoon and they promised to walk on the beach together. That's sweet beyond words, but mmm... v__v
