I support the sharks and the wolves. :3
I believe its wrong to say things such as 'forget the stupid wolves!' is wrong, their the same! xD So what if Wolves are furry and live on land, and sharks have fins and live in the ocean. Save the wolves and save the shark threads are the same, why don't we have Save the sharks and wolves!' ?
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Wolves are the most popular and overrated animal on the Internet. They are misunderstood the other way.
Actually grey wolves only get a quick bullet to the head, before the brain can even register pain.
Tell me how that's worse/the same as shark finning.
And regulated hunting only affects around 15% of the population whereas 25% is needed to even make a dent in the population.
Also, wolves have so much support, and get tons of donations, while sharks are still misjudged because of movies like Jaws; here is a list of ten shark films, and I don't think any don't portray sharks as killer monsters.
Sorry it was 5 pages ago, just saw no one replied.

I used to do that too, before I learned that the hook usually hurts the fish and that they can get very seriously injured, sometimes even resulting in death... so now I think it's wrong

Why argue about which is worse? They're both horrible. I realize that shark finning is a painful death, and not a quick death as in wolf hunting. But in both, the animal dies. What's wrong with wolves being misunderstood "the other way"? Plenty of people still hate them; they aren't overrated and popular. Yes, maybe on websites like this one, but not on some others. However, wolf appreciation has drastically improved. I wish people would just START thinking about sharks the same way.
I realize many people aren't afraid of sharks (Including me; I would LOVE to see a shark while scuba diving). But plenty others are afraid because we know very little about sharks. Wolves are easy to follow and study. They live on land, and you can pen them in if necessary. But sharks? We don't live underwater (obviously) therefore, it makes it a lot harder to study them; plus it's almost impossible to pen them without having a serious impact on the ocean. And another thing- wolves are "cuter" and more familiar than sharks by a long shot. They have fur, give birth to puppies, and have families, like people. These things allow humans to feel close to wolves. We can attempt to understand them. Sharks, however, have huge teeth, "evil" looking eyes, and are always hungry. They are not "cute." Is it their fault? Do they "hunt" humans because they like the taste? Of course not. They look the way they are because they are superbly adapted to their enviornment. Humans get bitten by accident most of the time. Usually on a surfboard, they look like seals. In the water, they splash, much like an injured fish, AKA an easy meal. Wolves raise their pups like we raise children. Sharks leave their pups to fend for themselves, seen sometimes as uncaring and cruel. That's how they survive best; no one to show them mercy-the ocean never will. Don't get me wrong, I believe the ocean is beautiful and amazing, but the ocean is a dangerous, unforgiving habitat. Sharks can't afford to be cautions when they attack; it's all or nothing, you might say. However, usually when a shark bites into a human, it lets go soon afterward. Humans just don't taste good, it seems. Sharks use their mouths to test things, where as a wolf uses its nose to smell. Sharks don't have hands (duh); they cannot test things to see if they're good to eat. If they did, the prey would get away everytime.
I'm gonna end here, as this has gone on for a long time. But please, don't think as shark finning worse than wolf hunting. They are both cruel. I hope that sharks will be viewed as wolves. They are both predators, and they will kill ruthlessly when they need to. But only to survive. They're not a threat to civilization- Can we not live together, or is it too hard to stop the human's violent, destructive nature?
(One last thing-- "The Summer of the Shark" is completely retarded. It has been proven that more people have been spending more time in the water-how is it possible to avoid sharks in that case? More people in the water means more bitten. The sharks did not all randomly decide to go bite a bunch of people. We moved in on their territory...and we must pay the price.)

Death is death is death. And the grey wolves aren't the only wolves hunted and poached. What about Red Wolves? Ethiopian wolves?
And sometimes wolves don't get the quick death some people think. They're chased down by airplanes, have their feet caught in traps, are shot and then bleed to death as they run off, etc.
cows aren't endangered...yet.
