the little girl [me] .&. midnight [her cat]
The death of the little girl's first cat, Boots, took a huge toll on her. Often times she would sit up in her room,

herself to sleep. However, she was lucky to have a spunky pitch-black kitten with sparkling, fauxly innocent emerald eyes. He, the son of Boots, was named for his color:

Always getting into trouble, this cat kept her on her toes. Giggles spurted from her lips at his silly antics in the day, and a smile tugging at her lips while she slept with him curled on her lap at night. Curiosity began to draw him to the outside world. She allowed him to venture outside, but he never went farther than a few feet away from the front of the house, or up a shady tree in the rich, green backyard, often times to attempt - and fail, mind you - catching those tweeting little creatures that soared in the sky and intrigued him so. This curiosity led him outside during the hours where it began to darken, seeping into the

Loud-mouthing humanoids caught his eye. They were older than the little girl, the one that was his master and that he loved so dearly, yet younger than her milkgiver and creator. Teenagers, he believed the word was. They were walking down the sidewalk in his direction, and he did not wish to meet them. Turning back to plod toward his home, he decided he'd had enough exploring for the night. It was time to go in. His girl could not sleep without him.

The young cat jumped in surprise as something shattered beside him. Some sort of... Glass. Was that intended for him? He turned to face the humans, who were laughing coldly. The little girl was off in a flash, out the door as fast as she could. Bare paws pounding across the grass, a sickening thud filled her ears. Walking down the street, her head down, the little girl let the tears flow as the rain pounded down, hiding her sorrow. Still the death of the kitten she could not live without haunted her. He was the only thing that had brought her out of her depression after Boots had died.

"You're a m-monster!" she said, the torture of their cruel laughing only pumping more sorrow and anger into her as he spoke in his cold, mocking tone.

That story about the death of my cat, Boots, then the death of her son, Midnight, is 100% true.
It still haunts me and hurts me to this day.
And the teenagers that caused it saw me on the street and said that same thing.
I cried while writing this, and I promise you that I do not lie about that fact.

Oh noes, now I've made joo cry :c Thanks though ^^
[/startshamelessadvertising]Midnight is identical to the UR cat, so if anyone has one they are willing to trade, or if anyone has a lot and they could possibly spare one, I'll pay a lot (I don't have very good pets, but I have a few '08 VRs and lots of other rares and very rares I could give) to get one in honor of him.[/endshamelessadvertising]

That story was just beautiful, and I'm so sorry about what happened. Reminded me of all the gorgeous animals that have come and gone in my family's life. I challenge anyone who says a pet isn't a member of the family. I am lucky enough to still have my (not so little anymore) man after I lost my last one, and he is lovely. I don't know what I'd do without him.

I, too, know what it's like to lose a pet to murder. I'll make a story in a minute...
@aquamarine, i love Up! its a great movie.
A child of the flowers am I, With blossoms budding from my hair.
A friend of the Fairies am I, A crown of leaves and flowers I wear.
A daughter of the Earth am I, Walking Her ways with feet ever bare.
A sister of the waters am I, Flowing wild and free without a care.
At one with the blowing winds am I, Singing softly through the midnight air.
A keeper of the fire am I, Let me kindle your passions if you dare.
Connected in Spirit with You am I, Fused together as one in prayer.
