I assume you're going with family, so let me just say, it isn't as bad as it sounds.
I went to France a year or two ago, and I was freaking out about being able to speak French.
In all honesty - at least in France - you only need to know how to order food, say hello/goodbye, and say please and thank you. xD

Plus, in Quebec, most people speak some english anyway. It won't be hard, trust me. ^^

Everyone is talking about the hurricane and earthquake. I understand, I grew up on the east coast, in several states. I've been from New York down to Florida (only living in two of them, though. derp.), and know that none of us are prepared for huge storms.
But seriously? This is our third typhoon here, and nobody is concerned about it. It floods, things catch on fire, things get torn up. Yet NOBODY cares except for us. What the freak.

Annoyance: My uncle is in the hospital all the way down in Florida. I'm really regretting not going down with my dad this summer... I feel horrible. So horrible.
