Your lone paws hit the snow frosted ground, making the cold ground crunch under you. The sound of small pawsteps and pitiful mew behind makes you stop, looking at the weak cub behind you, an encouraging purr rumbling from your throat. Swinging your head back and forth as you wait for your cub, you stay alert for other Leopards, mostly males. Your mate had his life taken by poachers, and your trust withered. Hearing a soft plunk, you wheel around, nosing your still cub. But, the cold and the starvation had caused the remainder of your family to pass. A cry escapes your throat, hoisting the cub in your jaws, before continuing towards the sanctuary, the solitary cave you live in.

Dangers for the Amur Leopard.
-Poachers
There appears to be poaching of leopards as well as their prey species. Poachers include
both poor local villagers and newly rich Russians, mainly from the city of Vladivostok,
as well as Chinese nationals who illegally cross the border into Russia. Russian hunters
kill many more deer than is officially allowed and Amur leopards are sometimes caught in
snares as well. Since 2002, skins or corpses of nine Amur leopards killed by poachers have
been found in Russia and at least two leopards have been killed in China.
-Forest Fires
The forests on which Amur leopards depend have slowly disappeared as a result of
frequent fires. Local villagers start fires for various reasons, but mainly to stimulate
the growth of ferns that are a very popular ingredient in Russian and Chinese dishes.
-Inbreeding
Loss of genetic diversity in the small and isolated Amur leopard population may cause
inbreeding depression (reduced numbers due to reduced reproduction, lifespan and
increased vulnerability to diseases). However, the results of research so far are
inconclusive and additional information on the effects of inbreeding is needed before
conclusions can be drawn. They have young every two years.

Will you live on your own, being forced to survive the hardships, or have a mate and a cub at your side, to defend of dangers together? Most females don't live with their mates, but you may choose, to make things a bit more interesting. Most of the time, cubs don't survive, living with just their mothers mostly, especially hard in the winter. The Leopards here each live where they can find, in a cave, in the woods, anywhere.

The Amur Leopards feed on the few Roe and Sika deer, even badgers and hares at times.
These Leopards can jump 6 m horizontally and more than 3 m vertically.
Male Amur Leopards usually weight around 32-48 kg (71-106 lb), exceptionally large males
can weigh up to 60-75 kg (132-165 lb).
Females weight smaller than males do, normally around 25–43 kg (55–95 lb).
In the wild, Amur Leopards live for 10-15 years, and in captivity they can reach up to
20 years.

P e r s o n a l i t y: She's very skittish, and is a hard nut to crack. She hates males of every kind, after her own mate killed their cub out of starvation, eating him in front of Luhua. This female lives in a lone cave on a snow capped moutain side, food scarce and days harsh.
P a s t L i f e: She grew up with her mother, leaving once she was old enough. Finding a mate, Luhua thought she was the luckiest female every, and soon they had a cub. Everything was gun-hoe until her mate was driven mad with starvation, killing the cub then going for Luhua but she ran away with everything she had left.

Trutsky has been alone for a little less than a week and is starving. He thinks he's pretty fierce and will attack anything that moves. He tries hard to impress and doesn't like getting any help. He can do it on his own.

Eva is a loner, tough and in-control of herself. She is a skilled fighter and doesn't like being helped or told what to do. She doesn't plan on ever taking a mate or having cubs, because she thinks it would weigh her down.

P a s t L i f e:

Eva was born in a litter of three. Her mother fell and hit her head, and afterwords something was not right about her. Her siblings were killed by her mother in a fit of rage, and Eva ran. She met an old, wise male in her flight, who taught her to fight. He was killed by another male and Eva has been wandering ever since.

P e r s o n a l i t y: Keelin is a kind female most of the time until you anger her. She can be extremely feisty at times and it's never really apparent what's going through her head when she does something dumb. She's daring, brave, and adventurous but very wise and serious when she needs to be. Keelin isn't afraid to get down and dirty and loves to play around.
P a s t L i f e: She was born and raised in the mountains where her mother thought it safest. Her father had left a few weeks after she was born to go hunting and he never returned. Her mother told her that poachers had killed her father but later she found out he had left to live by himself again so he didn't have to feed her and her mother. Keelin began growing and her mother taught her how to hunt in the forest and mountains so she would be prepared for living in either. After Keelin was old enough she left her mother to live on her own. Since then she's been traveling on her own and exploring happily though she's had a few brushes with poachers.

P e r s o n a l i t y:

Shariki is skittish. She lives in the mountains and is rarely seen. She is terrified of humans as they have caught her before and attached a large tracking collar to her neck. She is graceful and has an immense love for her cub. To sum her up in a word, she is paranoid. She can fight well and will do anything it takes to protect her cub.

P a s t L i f e:

She was born on a protected part of the mountain, and grew up there. She left her mom at an early age and didn't have good hunting skills. Half-starving, she fell for a human trap baited with food. They shot something into her and when she woke up she had a large tracking collar strapped to her neck inside the cage. She paniced and the door to the cage open. Scared she bolted and ran of the research area. She took to caves in the mountains, hiding. She soon met a male who became her mate. She was expecting his cub when he was shot by poachers. She travelled further away from the reserve and gave birth. Since she disappeared, the Amur leopard researchers who attached the collar to her have been organizing a search party to follow the tracker and find her to study her and bring her back to the protected research area.

Calypso is shy and quite. She prefers to keep to herself and stick near her mother. Her personality hasn't quite developed as she is quite young, but she is a kind, old soul. She is abnormally small and often sickly, so she needs the constant care of her doting mother, Shariki.

P e r s o n a l i t y: Hyou is definitely quiet, and she never communicates with others, even if they happen to come across the same path. She's usually very shy, so she pretty much hides whenever she can.
P a s t L i f e: When Hyou was born, she was the smallest of four cubs. Her mother always loved her the most, but ironically after she was taught how to hunt small animals, a fire raged and she was left for death. She managed to survive, hiding under a fallen log. A mother whose cubs were recently poached while she hunted. She raised her until she was old enough to go off on her own, and ever since she's lived an average life.
