Think about it guys, why on earth would you skin something alive?!

It completely ruins the pelt, because it's moving and it just becomes a big mess and a very horrible skin.

The video from PeTA is staged, you know that, right?
Many people are uneducated about taxidermy and such, and it pains me to hear that it's terrible and cruel, when in reality it is usually roadkill that artists work with.

Of course there are going to be some pelts that were poached, but skinners don't gun animals down with as many bullets as possible.
That also ruins the pelt with so many bullet holes, so I'm not sure who would do that.

As I've said before, I think taxidermy is an amazing craft when done right. Society has taught us that death is disgusting and cruel..why?
Taxidermists make beauty out of a body that would normally go to be nothing but good for the soil.

Sorry for the long post, just had to rant for a minute, I know this is kind of straying from what you were talking about ;p

Yeah, good point Blue I didn't really think of it that way. xD Thanks for the infomation.
And yeah, I guess you're right, they do turn road kill into amazing pieces of work. I remember the link you gave us a while back of that Taxidermists art... Etc.
But yeah, you're definately right on with the part of them skinning the animals alive and how it ruins the pelt (and with bullets).
