XD I want a horse too, but with me going off to be an adult soon, it's not a viable option for me.
On the up side, had a really nice lesson with Mr. Cool today. He's really getting the hang of being tacked up. He seems to get that the bridle goes in his mouth, although chewing the cheekpieces wasn't what I had in mind. He has this really endearing habit, when I tighten the girth, of nuzzling me and chewing my jacket. Maybe he thinks I'm grooming him, maybe he just likes eating clothes. He's very gentle about it, though. Sweet boy :3 He went for a whole 25 minutes without stopping today. My instructor and I were seriously impressed. From now on, though, I am riding El Condor in my private lessons. I asked my instructor if I could ride a school-master for a bit, and this is her answer. Condor is 16.2, huge and muscular, and apparently very strong. He's also missing one eye, but he doesn't seem to notice. This should be fun.

The college I want to go to someday has one of the biggest equestrian teams in the country <3
Aww, he sounds so sweet! I've never met a horse that enjoys having his girth tightened, though. xD Imax tried to bite me when I tightened his. I could hardly get it on the first hole, we have no giant horse tack. I had to use my trainer's huge Hanoverian's bridle, and I had to make it even bigger to fit his head. o.e
He sounds like a good horse, actually. xD Big and muscular is great, out of shape horses (coughcoughImax) wear me out. I used to ride a horse with one eye, Bay. He was a great boy, but you had to talk to him a lot.

Yup =3
so many people getting rid of horses in our area. the others we tried out were sale because the owners' hay bill was to expensive, so they had no choice but to thin their herd. uggh, this drought is killing everything. Hay prices are very high.

I gotta get my working papers from my school so I can get a job. I've made a compromise with my mom where I have to pay half the purchase price of a horse and help pay the board. There's several jobs I could get around here, I just have to find a place that's hiring :P
Thanks for the tips earlier c:
That beaded tack is gorgeous <3 I wanna buy tack for Ripley, but I doubt my mom would let me since I'm only leasing.
I'm not the only one at the barn that loves Ripley! xD My instructor told me that she has a little 6 year old taking lessons and he loves her.

Same, I've ridden some out-of-shape green horses and they tire me out. Not to mention they're so off-balance and 'wiggly' that at the canter it feels like you're riding a washing machine. xD And plus, since they don't have their muscles built up enough yet, I can't really ask them to bend, so I feel like a little kid tugging their head to the outside with their hindquarters out in the middle. Meanwhile, they're switching leads and cross-cantering all over the place and my legs are dying just trying to keep them going. Ah, greenies. x3
