So does anyone know about the African Wild Dog becoming Extinct or Endangered? I saw it in a book called "100 animals to see before they die" (Not a very pleasant name.. o.-) And it had the African Wild Dog in it. But my dad said they have quite a lot in the London Zoo... I'm pretty confused here... -Facepalm-

i dont know maybe the book is really old and now they breeded more of them?

i think the timbers are because, they are hunted alot by ranchers and land owners. Also they loose alot of habitats and are forced to hunt cattle because they are fighting for game from hunters.

There were once approximately 500,000 African Wild Dogs in 39 countries, and packs of 100 or more were not uncommon. Now there are only about 3,000-5,500 in fewer than 25 countries, or perhaps only 14 countries.

This unique pack-living canid, with its large parabolic ears and mottled coat pattern of yellow, white, and black, once ranged widely throughout sub-Saharan Africa in 39 countries. Today wild dogs have all but disappeared in 15, with perhaps no more than 3,000–5,500 remaining.
