Wow, that's awesome... Lucky to see some in the zoos where you are then.
But yeah, they probably just can't cope with all the space they need. And about the number of them, since they live in packs. /:
I don't really have anything more to say about that.

I guess they used to have a really small pen though, so I'm happy that it's bigger than it used to be, but it needs to be bigger. A lot bigger. There's only two so yeah, they need more, but with the little amount of space I suppose it's better to have just two than to have six or more.

at my zoo they have wolves but they are cooped up and also lay down and have nothing to do and i saw food laying down and they would not eat it cause i think they would like to hunt food for once,and whenever i go to see them i talk to them sometimes.it makes me really sad how they are cooped up.

When I go to the zoo here, I talk to them too. Once I got one of them to follow me on the other side of the fence. Here they have a bunny hut and they take the baby bunnies and put them in the wolf pen for the wolves to 'hunt' and kill. It's sad to see the bunnies die, but it's better than just being given already dead animals.

It's kind of funny though because I was just at the zoo. I couldn't find the wolves though, I think they were in the den they have built out of rocks for them. What sucks is that they have a drive through and a walk through part and the wolves are in between the two parts, but in the drive through there are really big open spaces that they use for the deer, elk, and buffalo, but there are a few that have nothing in them because they're moving the animals around and they got rid of a couple different species but I think that the wolves should be in one of those pens. If they were to take down the fencing between the old Mountain goat enclosure where there's a place inside the rocks that the wolves could use for a den and the larger pen behind it that is currently vacant it would work for the wolves and they could have a larger pen and a bigger pack. But they're too stupid for that...

I have another debate/question type thing. It's not too much of a big one though.
What do you think is better for a wolf, if they are to be kept somewhere : A zoo or a preserve?
It could be a good quality zoo or not. (Just saying).

a preserve i think in my opinion.and ya they should have more wolves than just 2.and ~KK i tried getting one to walk but at my zoo they have nothing to do and wont even walk.and they have 10 wolves thats sort of good and sort of bad in my opinion.the bad part is that they are keeping more poor little wolves cooped up in one small cage.and hardly anyone looks at the wolves there because they wanna see wolves accutally active.

Preserve, no doubt. They would have more wolves and much bigger spaces along with animals for the wolves to hunt for food instead of just being fed random dead animals unlike most zoos. In the preserves they can run and are free to do pretty much anything. Also on preserves they can have pups and be free to do so much more. At zoos (at least all of the ones I've been to with wolves) they don't have any pups and I think that they have them spayed and stuff so they can't. At the zoo here there is a boy and a girl too so...

That's horrible! I was doing a fundraiser to help the County Humane Society and I was holding a muffin pan. Maybe he only chased me because it was shiny I don't really know, but he still followed me after I handed the pan to my friend and ran along the side of the pen...

Exactly what I would say. Preserves are much much better than zoos and anything else. It's really good for the wolves because it's like living normally in the wild, and they don't have to depend on the humans too much on feeding them. As in zoos, the zookeeper is probably coming in and out just dropping food for them.
That is probably why, blacklonewolf, that wolf wasn't moving. It had probably become so dependant on the keeper to feed it and such, that it became lazy.
That's why I vote preserves. For many more reasons too.

I, Athenian Dragon, will dedicate myself to helping wolves have a better future. I swear to give my all in protecting these beautiful creatures, and will help in anyway I can.

A little bit of...random things XD:
1) I live very, very close to the California Wolf Center but my parents don't like wolves as much as I do, and they won't let me go

2) Opinion?: I think the government should be able to kill wolves for reasonable purposes. For example, if the wolf has been notorious for killing livestock, people, and not its natural prey, they should be able to kill it simply because it's a danger to our society. And if they need to perform autopsies on any wolves to check for poisoning, disease, etc.

I think a preserve is better, if you mean something like Yellowstone, because there would be minimal human interference (if any at all) and the wolves are in a natural habitat. If wolves rely too much on keepers, then they (as DragonDance said) become...well, sort of, domesticated in the sense that they expect the keepers to feed them at regular times.

i don't know why i did not do this earlier.and yeah Yellowstone is a good place and also i hate it when people hunt wolves for sport but if a wolf has rabies or is killing people(which i believe is rare to happen) i'll be sort of okay with the wolf being killed cause it has rabies or something.but if there was a way to make it so that the wolf would stay away from humans id like that better.but rabies the animal does die later so im fine with the animal dieing if a hunter shots it.if you disagree in any way id like to hear why you disagree.

But yes, preserves have less humans interacting with the wolves... Etc. So that's better for the humans and the wolves in a way.
