You should try the "smoothing" tool, and set it at at least 30. I set mine at 85 if I want perfect control. It makes the lines unbelievably straight and smooth.
Also, you should try layers. They work great.

Anyhoo, this drawing is a good start. ^^

The drawing comes easy with the Smoothing tool, believe me. You don't need much talent after that. As for the coloring, that's what the layers are for. You need at least 2 layers. One with the main lines, the second for the coloring. The coloring won't overlap the main lines, so it's easy to color. Also, the "pencil" is a great way color, with solid, bold colors.
The more advanced the drawing you do, the more layers you need. For example, I use 4 layers for most of my drawings because I have many different colors and textures to use. :3
