Azazel entered the well-lit cafeteria with a few blinks. There weren't many people downstairs for breakfast. His eyes flitted nervously at Azrael, but he looked forward again and managed a casual walk to the serving counters. The faces behind them were warm and friendly.
"Want some breakfast?" one of the cooks asked, tilting a skillet full of eggs for him.
Wow, that smelled great. "Yes, can I have some pancakes and sausage patties too?"
"Whoa, got ourselves a big eater," the man said with a grin, stacking the requested food on a ceramic plate.
With a grin, Azazel turned to look for a table and frowned as he saw another Special had entered the room.
Rory walked in coolly. Of course, he saw Azrael, but he breezed right by her without a glance or a word. He came to the counter. "Hey Shawn," he said with a familiar smirk.
"Well, look who stopped by. You're a little late this morning aren't you? The Sun is shining," the cook who had served Azazel said.
"Yeah well, had a late night..."
"Anything to do with girls?"
Rory laughed, a strange sound for the dark-haired boy, and glanced away.
"Thought not. The usual?" the cook said, fixing the plate already and grabbing a cup of black coffee.
Rory nodded, and took the plate and cup. He paid no mind to the red-haired kid, who Riley had informed him was also Special, and sat by a window on the opposite side of the room from Azrael. He offered her no hateful stares, or suspsicious glances. He wasn't even looking at her. He just sipped his coffee like a normal guy.
Azazel, sort of disturbed by how casual the usually doom and gloom guy was, took a seat at a different table from both of them. He tried, and failed, at copying Rory's smooth attitude. If this were a poker game, he would have lost a while ago. He wondered why those two weren't sitting at the same table. He had thought that they were allies in this. But maybe it was just Azrael and Riley...
