I thought about breeding my gerbils (I had two females named Athena and Hera) but then I got too stressed out from hiding my gerbils from my dad, so I gave Hera and Athena to a freind of mine who was experienced with gerbils. I kept Apollo because Zeus was already gone by then and I only have three rats (my dad believes there to be four rats in my room and if he saw a gerbil, he'd call it a rat). I've seen pix of the babies and they are soooo adorable! And I love that they (rats too) are a species where the father helps take care of the offspring.

Yes, it is neat. Puck would sit on them to keep them warm while Katara went to get a break from mum duties, and he would carry the little wigglers back to the nest. For little things with underdeveloped legs and no sight, they sure can cruise!

Puck is argent golden. Kakashi and Pascal are creme. Pi is dove. Halo is lilac. Katara, Tamari, and Sakura are agouti.

Zeus was Burmese, Apollo is spotted agouti, Athena is nutmeg, and Hera is silver nutmeg.

Speaking of gerbils, I knew someone on another site who had gerbils, but she doesn't talk to me anymore, I think I made her mad. xD

I really wish that I could have gerbils or rats, but my Mom thinks rats are nasty, dirty, and ugly and carry diseases. D8

Aww, I love gerbils. When I was ten my aunt's gerbil had a surprise litter, and I got attached to - and eventually owned - the little albino runt, who I tried to name Chip but somehow ended up being called Nicky. I also had a pair recently, Lucifer Apocalypse X (mostly black, whitepaw?) and Babybel Tiddlywink Black (mostly white, extreme spotted?) both of whom died within the last year. Little sweeties, I find them so much more interesting than hamsters.

Rats and gerbils are both more fun than hamsters, in my opinion.

Is the father spayed/neutered? If not, you should not keep him with the mom and the babies, because he will mate with the mom right after the birth of the babies and she will have a new litter in three weeks time.
