Hey guys, it's Stray Dog here, applying for the position of General Helper :D
1.What date did you register as a CS member?: 8th of January in 2010 - happy to say I've been here over a year ^^
2.How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): This will have been my 10925th post - woah that's a larger number than I thought it would be (must be all the roleplaying I do XD)
3.How many days a week do you usually visit CS? At least once a day, every week (I have access to Chicken Smoothie at school and always stay after school for an hour on the computer - except for recently since I've been busy with rehearsals for the school play but the production is in two weeks so, after that, I'll be able to get back to my usual Chicken Smoothie access times.)
4.How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? Lately, only 1-2 hours but, usually, 2-5 hours a day from Monday to Thursday and roughly 5-7 hours on Friday and Saturday - Sunday's vary between 3 and 6 hours.
5.Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required): Well I'm very patient and can give clear instructions - back when I was new to CS, I would have been doomed if it wasn't for a few helpful members and friends in real life. So I definitely understand how these new members feel, unsure of what to do here, who to talk to, how to do these things etc etc
I also like to think of myself as fun and friendly, easy to approach and well-taught in the ways of Chicken Smoothie XD
6. Why do you want to be a General Helper? I've always wanted to be able to help out the Chicken Smoothie community and this, I believe, would be the best way for me to do so. I have had a few members in the past contact me, unsure how to use and set an avatar, having no idea how to use image codes and other things that I myself was confused about at the beginning. I think I handled these situations well since the members I helped were very grateful and we've traded successfully many times since meeting. I also love watching a new member grow and develop, adding an avatar and a simple signature then complicating that signature and changing from the flatly annoying chatspeak to proper grammar as more and more people gave them tips and hints. My amazing friend, Serena, is a General Helper and more than once I have asked her about her job - she says it can be a little patience-testing but it's worth it when the member you help is kind enough to thank you.
I also feel as if I understand this job. Some may think it is easier than the other staff's jobs since General Helper's don't have to lock topics or move them or anything like that but I understand that it is actually more time-consuming than people would think. Helping members, welcoming new members, explaining parts of Chicken Smoothie and giving tips on how to get along well with other members can steal loads of your spare time on CS (which I seem to have a lot of, finding myself sitting at the computer, bored out of my mind, too often than I think I should) and can give you little time for other things - sometimes I find that Serena doesn't reply to my messages, even when she is online, and that it may be a few days or weeks before I contact her again. It was many months ago, but I had felt ignored and so I sent her a message asking why she wasn't replying to my messages - she replied with an apology and an explanation, telling me how she had been flooded with trades from people who saw her coloured name and thought she'd have awesome pets; there were also messages asking for help or just wanting to chat. It does seem that a coloured name makes you more noticeable, which can be a blessing and a curse, but I think that I have the patience and spare time to go through all these trades - and offer advice to those who send bad//unfair trades - and reply to the messages, even if it means I have less time to roleplay or chat with my friends.
Thanks for this opportunity Tess - been waiting a long time for General Member positions to be opened and hope you take my form into consideration since it would be an honour to work alongside Serena :D
P.S Wow really sorry my application is so long! I just read back over the others and saw how short most are – I just thought explaining myself would give me a better chance of becoming a General Helper XD
