So since parenthesis is winning by a landslide (at 30 votes) in the poll, we may as well get on that subject. ^^
I think i'm using them right, but I could be wrong. I've seen them used like:
Bob picked up his new blue car and Harry picked up his (it was red).
Actually- technically you shouldn't use parentheses very often in writing. The way you are using them is actually incorrect- the correct way to write that passage is

Parentheses should be used when adding something like a backstory. Usually they aren't even used at all. Example-
The mayor was talking excitedly- which he did often. I couldn't understand him at all. Couldn't he be a little more quiet and soft-spoken (a time like that, they say was actually once had. Except the mayor had a nervous breakdown and never went back.)

Thank you so much! I've never been sure, or very okay with parenthesis, so I never use them. :3
I was, and sign my art as KTMason. Going on a semi-hiadus as I get settled into school. I'll get on when I can.

I only use them in expository writing, and still not that often.
I don't normally use them in fiction writing.

|ʈʊɱƄʟʀ.|Hey there!
I'm Kiliann. I like way too many things to be listed, and I'm also a writer and a budding artist. Take a look at my tumblr and deviantART above if you're interested.
Random trades are totally welcome, and while I'm busy often, I'm also up for RPs (literate, please!) Don't be shy to suggest a trade or drop me a message!

Why you want to join:
I get so frustrated when I'm writing a looong post to someone on a day were my muse is at its peak when the other player writes a one-liner! Then they wonder why I stop roleplaying for ages-its because they give me nothing to work with! But generally I face-plant the desk if I, myself, make a grammatical mistake with that exact same person I got annoyed at... No one is perfect! But you can be close. c;
Tell us something about you:
I can be too polite for my own good and try to ignore it when people have grammar mistakes but come on! Who can misspell 'have'!
-well, me but thats defeating the objective of this mini-rant I'm having-
It just annoys the heck out of me! One-liner posts drive me crazy!
Do you have a brain:
Hrm, let me have a quick check.
-knockshead-
Yes, I suppose I do.
... I think ...

I avoid parentheses unless roleplaying and speaking in OOC (out of character) <-or giving examples.
@Owl-
Of course. I know what you mean. Slang and Americans (even though I am one) have changes the original English language until nothing is left.

Hello! Great to see new faces. Also, I like the new quote in your signiture, Seasonstar.
On the "ooooo" note, I usually write "lo-o-ong" or something when I really need to emphasive it, or I talicize it.

When I need to emphasize something I just italicize it.
Thanks. I was going to ask you- where it says Words- should I put the link to this place?
