I've never gotten into Pokemon, but I really do like how you depicted them in this drawing. The only thing I am not crazy about is the checkered background texture. I don't really care for it in general. It makes it harder to see the characters. I'd like to see you try to render a sidewalk for them to stand on and a building or back alleyway as a background. Everything else is great. I wouldn't do any changes to the characters or how you shaded them.

Lol yeah I suck at backgrounds and it was kinda rushed. I was meaning to change it that just has to be my holder for a while as I think of something better. Orginaly they were gotta be in front of a black background with a giant pokeball but then I was like "Wait I suck I might mess it up. DX"

If you have the characters on a separate layer, you shouldn't have anything to lose by adding a layer and placing it under the character's layer as the background. If you don't like it, you can always delete that layer or add a new one over it. Even if you did a solid white or gray layer it would still be better than the checkerboard.
