In roleplays it really depends on which you join. Most of them are like *does something* but there are a few that are more like typing it out. You'd have to roam around the roleplaying fourms and just see whats right for you.
Also in art terms, Oekaki is drawing. But in the user-created/shared fourm people can take that and do so much more for you. Hope this helps (;

The boards all have descriptions, and I suggest taking a look around them to see where you like to be best. If you need help navigating or understanding something, please feel free to ask!

Welcome to ChickenSmoothie Cloudpaw! ^-^ Another Warriors fan, eh? ;3 Cloudpaw isn't my favorite (at least not as a Warrior), but he's an awesome character. :'3 Collecting pets is the main idea, but going on the forum is always a plus. ^^ There's so much more than just role playing though, but it's great to hear when someone finds an area they love best. The Oekaki is a built-in program on ChickenSmoothie were you can draw and upload your own images. You can get critique, give fanart, or draw your own lineart so other members can color it in! If you go here you can see the different categories of Oekaki drawings and you can explore all of them for inspiration or to see what's popular.

Glad to see that you like ChickenSmoothie! ^^ For a start, it's good to read the Newbies click here and Tips For New Players threads if you haven't. Other than that, there isn't really a tutorial on the forum, but there are descriptions, so you should explore all around. ^^ There are many different things to do, and many different people in each area (many in more than one).

As for your questions, the role plays depend on the role players. In my own experience, everything is typed out, but most role plays are one to two lines per post. However, if you feel you're more literate, you can always look for someone to role play with here. As for art, it also depends on the artist. Most art shops (here) sell full, custom draw pictures. However, many sell other things such as manipulations, lineart, sprites/pixel icons, etc. There's also a user adoptable area, here, where people create their own adoptables, characters/character designs, etc.

Sweet! I love it when new members enjoy CS. ^-^ It really can get addicting once you find a little niche. :3 For starting out, I'd suggest the Newbies click here and Tips For New Players threads. They are very helpful for those that are just beginning. Otherwise, feel free to explore the forums. There's no tutorial for what there is to do where, but the descriptions are fairly easy to understand. However, if you find yourself having trouble fining something you like or understanding something, please don't hesitate to ask!

As for your question, it depends what kind of signature you want. Many people put together images and text, or some create a signature box. If you want to create your own there's a wonderful tutorial here, but there's also many free shops that make them, such as this one. ^^
