I'm veering towards the belly as being the more easily identifiable marker except the last one blows my theory out of the water.

what about looking the tops of their tails? every tail is different color. 1. rat have BLUE tail, 2. have YELLOW, 3. have PURPLE and last one have GREEN

The names should be about the tails or noses, since these are the easiest. Every rat has a different colour in those areas. ^^;
