Natsumi saw the shadow slide closer to Midnight, and he nonchalantly stood. She already knew he was thinking of ways to torture her, which was normal for Catchers. She was the exception. She almost shivered with the thoughts of torture, but caught herself in time. She hated to show any sort of weakness. She focused again on the shadow in front of her.

She was female, with the standard jet black hair and pale skin. She looked just like any average shadow.....

I shouldn't underestimate her though, she caught herself. She analyzed her actions and behaviors thus far. Well, she didn't notice me at first, but once I came into plain view she was careful. She hid as well as she could, thinking she had the advantage, because we acted ignorant. But once she was close enough and we fell into her trap she pounced. But, she didn't even consider that we were playing with her, and still probably thinks she has the advantage. But we still have an advantage. A few actually. We have a greater number, and we also were watching her much longer than she was watching us. She looks about our age and has an average build. So she doesn't really have anything on us... She's careful, but not perspicacious.

Suddenly, she sensed another presence, and saw Midnight's eyes flickering through the trees. He stopped, then glanced at Natsumi, setting her off.

Why can't he just trust that I can take care of it?! He didn't even know about the freaking shadow until I pointed it out to him like he's some sort of four year old! Leave the shadow to me. She thought determinedly as she glared at him.

“A fight just isn’t the same without blood. Death preferably. Yours even more preferable. But hey, perhaps you can actually defend yourself. It’d be quite the surprise, but…” Midnight spread out his hands, waiting for the Shadow to attack.

You are such an idiot! Why the hell would you do that, you overconfident jerk! Natsumi was still very heated about her fight with Aya... Even when she thought the name, she couldn't help but have thoughts of murder.

Midnight froze, the smile fading. So he did notice something then, she thought with interest. The smile returned, but Natsumi could tell it was fake. He definitely saw or sensed something.

The female shadow jumped down from the branch, landing gracefully. Natsumi watched her, but didn't flinch.

“I’m amazed that you two idiots did not notice me sooner. Who knows how long I’ve been following you?"

Natsumi watched the shadow as she tilted her head and looked up. I knew there was something there... Natsumi kept her eyes on the female, but then she heard the swishing in the trees above. Many leaves and branches fell at random, and Natsumi sidestepped to avoid them. She couldn't keep her eyes on the shadow, but she maintained a defensive position while trying to see what was going on. Her eyes flickered down to one of the branches that fell and saw a perfect slash mark through it, as if it was cut by a blade. She looked back up and saw a flicker of black among the green.

She saw more clearly as all of the foliage finally fell to the ground. There was a shadow standing there, the slight breeze caused his silky black hair to dance in the wind. He was tall compared to Midnight, and monstrous compared to Natsumi. She could only see one of his eyes, but it was a bright yellow shade, a very odd eye color.

The newcomer stood in front of Midnight, fully alert and ready to act. He pointed his sword at Midnight. He stared coldly at her companion, but was speaking to both of them. He only uttered one word, but it came out with so much authority that Natsumi actually thought about listening, which was an amazing feat within itself.

"Leave."

Natsumi could see the female bristle with anger. “Get the hell out of here.” she snapped. Clearly the female wanted to fight alone against she and Midnight.

The male only acknowledged her by raising a second sword and pointing it at the female. He had a look of irritation on his face. He didn't seem to appreciate the female's rudeness.

“You would do well to hold your tongue before I cut it out.” he said with an icy tone. Yes, clearly not in a good mood, she observed. He continued,

“I advise all of you to leave.” His tone brought images of pure hell to Natsumi's mind. She just chuckled, and relaxed slightly, keeping her daggers in her hands ready, but at her sides.

"Really? Why would we do that? And I don't think she," Natsumi gestured to the female, "would leave either."

Hm, this guy will be trouble... He seems really fast, but I'm faster, the only advantage to being small. My size is a disadvantage, and he has two longswords... so my daggers aren't a good match. He's cautious and perceptive, he didn't come out until he knew about the situation... If he can get the female to help him we are outmatched, but she doesn't seem willing...

She knew they were in trouble, especially if the female decided to cooperate. She knew all the grave possiblilities, but decided to play confidant and make him angry. If he got mad enough, he might make mistakes and we could have a chance...

She saw Midnight was practically at swordpoint, and knew his safety was the top priority, but she needed his help to get out of this. She blinked twice as a signal for him to attack in sync with her. They needed perfect teamwork to come away from this fight. She suddenly came at the male with her two daggers and attacked with lightning speed. She didn't give it her all until she had more information.

This little outing has turned life threatening in a matter of minutes. Lovely.

Midnight

    ~Limits? I have none.~
~Try me, I dare you. You'll find out soon enough what I can do.~

Midnight stiffened, staying still, not even noticing the plastered smile fading from his lips. There was definitely something there, he could hear the branches moving, see twigs and leaves falling from the trees. Midnight looked up, keeping one eye on the Shadow girl and scanning the treetops. He did not see a thing. That is, until something dropped out of the tree and landed in front of him. Midnight stayed still, not flinching when the figure put a knife up to his face. Black hair, interestingly golden eyes, even with the shadows from the trees Midnight could tell that this person was a Shadow. Black hair, always gave it away. Stupid flipping…Midnight grumbled mentally, looking up at the Shadow’s cold gaze. Why do I have to be so much shorter than almost everyone?! Midnight kept his gaze on the male Shadow, making sure to keep the female Shadow in his line of sight, and ignoring his order to leave. And what if I don’t want to leave? The smile slowly spread itself back across Midnight’s face at the female Shadow’s words in response to the other Shadow. Be funny if they started fighting.
“I advise all of you to leave.”
“And what if I don’t want to? Then what?” Midnight asked cheekily, lightly pushing the Shadow’s knife in a direction that was anywhere but at his face. He winced slightly when the knife dug into his finger, cutting a somewhat deep slice. Midnight glanced momentarily at Natsumi’s face, catching her two quick blinks, then stepping out of the way of her attack, turning to the female Shadow. He quickly darted behind her and reached up, grabbing a handful of silky black hair and pulling backwards, smiling when the Shadow let out a loud screech.
~Sorry about that face sweetheart. Not much more I can do with that.~
~I guess I'll just have to settle for your lovely hair instead. Too bad hair cannot scream.~
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Diaspora
Diaspora stifled a snarl at the other Shadow’s orders.
“You would do well to hold your tongue before I cut it out.”
“Sorry, I don’t take orders from strangers. Or anyone else for that matter.” Diaspora responded coldly, fury rampant in her features. She bit her tongue, forcing herself to stay quiet and not get herself into any more trouble. Diaspora glanced quickly to the female Catcher when she stated that she thought Diaspora would not want to leave either. “Got that damn right. I ain’t going nowhere fast.” Diaspora snarled fiercely, momentarily forgetting that she was trying not to speak. She skittered sideways away from the girl as she rushed the other Shadow with two daggers, glinting deadly gleam in the faint moonlight. Serves him right. Diaspora thought smugly. However, her thoughts were interrupted by a hard yank on her ponytail. Unable to stop a loud angry screech from slipping past her bared lips, Diaspora shifted to the side, spying the male Catcher out of the corner of her eye with a handful of her hair. Then he tugged again, causing Diaspora’s head to jerk backwards and her hair bow to come loose. $?”/%?%?”%? I forgot about him! Diaspora cursed under her breath, this time managing to hush her furious words.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dove

~I thought I told you to leave the closet alone? I thought I warned you about the skeletons?~
~Ah well, prepare for the skeletons. There's a lot of them and they will gladly rip you apart from the inside out.~

“Oh, I do suppose we moved here... a month or two ago, did some crazy things, stayed out late... ya know, usual teenage stuff.”
“You suppose?” Dove asked coldly, stepping closer to the two figures. “That almost makes you sound as if you are lying.” Dove slid the spork higher up into her palm, the tines poking out between the tips of her fingers. “I hate liers.” She said firmly, meeting the boy’s gaze.
“I'm legal, and her babysitter, I do believe I can defend myself.”
The barest hint of a smile graced Dove’s stony lips at her quick glimpse of the boy’s teeth, raising one eyebrow when the girl stepped in front of him. She took another step closer to the two, glancing quickly at the girl. “Yes actually. It is a spork.” Dove turned back to the boy, analysing her options. 1, pretend to stay oblivious for as long as possible. But they know I’m a Catcher and we’re trained to identify Shadows. 2, Attack them now. But there’s two of them and they’re both bigger than me, if not by much. No weapons it looks like…but Shadows don’t exactly need weapons to be deadly. Dove shifted her weight mostly onto one foot, resting the other toe barely touching the ground. 3, wait. Wait for them to make the first move, but be ready. Dove smirked, making up her mind. “You might want to be a little more careful there. Who knows what some people might think you two are.”
~Liar, liar pants on fire. I will make you burn~
~And smile at your screams of pain, laughing my *ss off. Liars never get anywhere, they get what they deserve.~

Behind this mask, this pretty face, there's something I'm hiding

I hope you never notice when my perfect mask falls

Sylas only found his annoyance building as they decided to retort with their crap, cocky comments. She’s not leaving, he doesn’t want to leave, and the other girl just wanted to eat them. Lord, what a group of pleasant people. He was about to cut the boy’s finger off the moment he touched his sword, putting some pressure behind it to cut him, he got a small cut- but the boy retreated and side stepped, leaving a flurry of insane young woman to come at him. He took a deep step back, twirling his blade away from pointing at the other shade and blocking the first dagger, sparks flying and creating a brief light between them that dulled instantaneously. He used his prepared footing to twirl out of the way of the second dagger and leapt back at the third swing. However- he was not perfect. The blade cut into his sleeve, leaving a small slice and a scratch beyond that.

Now he wasn’t happy. And to piss him off was like pissing a bull off- expect he was a well calculated bull. Sylas glared at the girl. He had enough of this. “I warned you, die if you please. But I will not save you.” he said very coldly. By the way he said the last sentence, it seemed he was not the one going to be the end of their existence. Mostly because he had sworn he would not kill a human unless it was of the very most importance of his life. And he could easily run from these people. His golden yellow eyes glanced over at the young male, whom was mercilessly yanking at the girl’s hair.

“How immature.” With that, he ‘sheathed’ one of his short swords and quickly leapt into the tree, using his free hand to swing on the branch and bring himself up onto it’s limb. He stood up strait. “Farewell, may this not be your last night.” He slid the other sword in place and quickly leapt off into the trees. They begged for death, but the end of their lives would not be by his hands. There were many shadows here, and they would very soon be attracted by the sound of fighting and the smell of human stinking up that part of the forest. He had warned them, but it seemed they heeded not his forewarning.

He made sure to get rather far, he didn’t intend to go home, not yet. Mostly because it was still night, and this was his biological clock’s hours now. And ‘home’ did not seem appealing, seeing as he practically lived in a hole. The other shadows pretty much hated him, so he always strayed from them to keep them from trying to kill him. So what if he had developed a conscience? Was it so strange? Yes, in fact, it was. Especially considering his childhood. Sylas dropped out of the trees over a few piled boulders and leapt off them. He stared past the trees at the mountains beyond… Perhaps one of these days he would travel past those mountains in search of somewhere new… somewhere people would not try to impale him every time they saw his black hair.

He sat down, pressing his back against the rock and closing his eyes as he ran a hand over his scarred cheek, feeling the ridges that drawled over his cheek and disappeared into his hair line. It was nothing compared to the one on his neck. Ha, he remembered how he received that one clearly… It was not a pleasant memory either. Sylas leaned his head back, feeling the cool of the rock. His skin stung a little from the small cut, but he knew it wouldn’t bleed much. It was very minor and would fade away.

.:Samantha Knight:.

Sam's blue-gray eyes twinkled, "Cool.." she mumbled, then shook her head, her gaze turning emotionless. "Watch out for whom, might we inquire?" she asked, a smirk at her lips. She knew precisely who this girl was, or what she was, anyhow. She knew she needed to feed herself soon, otherwise her calm, "human" side would disappear in the blink of an eye. Her gaze flicked up to her brother, knowing he'd made a huge mistake upon saying 'suppose'. "Idiot." she grumbled undder her breath, before her curious gaze returned to the Catcher in front of them.

.:Cameron Knight:.

Cam instinctively stepped back, pulling his sister back a step as well, when Dove stepped forward, his clear blue gaze narrowing. He was naturally cautious of Catchers, and knowing she was one, made him rather skittish. "Now, now, what would make you think I was lying?" he questioned lightly, though he was clearly uncomfortable. He bent down the short distance to whisper in his sister's ear, "We have to go.. now." he hissed, before standing straight and turning his back, beginning to walk away, though he knew his sister would not follow him. "Worthless child." he growled under his breath.

Dove

~Ah well, prepare for the skeletons. There's a lot of them and they will gladly rip you apart from the inside out.~

“Watch out for whom, might we inquire?"
“Everyone.” It was true. Here, everybody could be an enemy, could have intent to harm. Or kill. That too. “Make one false step and you’ll have a pack of angry villagers at your throats, complete with torches and pitchforks. Alright, maybe not quite. But you get the point.” Dove smiled back at the girl, not exactly a friendly smile. It was too cold to be friendly.
"Now, now, what would make you think I was lying?"
“You said ‘suppose’. That implies that you are only guessing, or making things up on the spot. Thus, lying.” Dove watched curiously as the boy bent down to say something to his sister. Dove strained her ears, but failed to hear what they were saying. She did not, however, fail to see him walking away. Dove walked after him, quickening her step and spinning around to stop in front of him with a smile. “Sorry, I can’t let you leave just yet.”

.::Samantha Knight::.

She stiffened as Dove walked past her to stop her brother, and she moved to the side slightly, careful not to have herself touch the Catcher. She turned to face her brother, "....." her silence was noticeable, too noticeable. She didn't feel comfortable being parted from her brother, no matter how small the distance. Shifting her weight to her other foot, she whimpered quietly.

.::Cameron Knight::.

"I think you may be one of those people we'd call an enemy." he growled, eyes narrowed at Dove. He wasn't comfortable with her being close, and so he backed up several steps. He could see her ruby, and his discomfort was noticeable, much too noticeable for his liking. "Insolent human.." he grumbled under his breath, his words nearly inaudible. His clear blue eyes glinted in the dark, and he bit his lip, his sharp teeth shining faintly. He knew his mistakes would most likely get him killed, but he didn't care, he was just too hardheaded to understand that.

Dove
"I think you may be one of those people we'd call an enemy."
"Mmhm? And why is that? I mean, it's not like you have any thing to hide, right?" Dove smirked, stepping closer to Cameron. Careful, Dove... Dove stepped away slightly, turning so that her back was facing the damp alley wall. Mistakes get you killed, idiot. She hissed quietly under her breath, furious at herself. Facing forwards, a person was not able to see behind their back, nor see anyone behind them. Dove had turned her back to the other Shadow, the girl. A simple mistake that Dove was livid for making. A newbie's mistake.

Diaspora
“I warned you, die if you please. But I will not save you.”
Diaspora hissed, baring her teeth. "I do not need saving." She spat, tugging her head forwards. But her reply came too late, Sylas had already disapeared into the nearby tree. Diaspora turned her attention back to the Catcher behind her, kicking out backwards and smiling smugly when he backed away. "Nice chatting, but I'm short on time." Diaspora retorted, spinning away from the Catcher's hands and darting into the forest. She was never keen on running away, especially from potential prey, but she had miscalculated. Badly. Diaspora sighed, slowing her steps as she got farther away from the clearing and the two Catchers.

Asphyxia
Asphyxia laughed, skipping through the dark forest. She had no fear of the Shadows that lurked in the shadows of the trees; nope, no way. Fear was not a word in Asphyxia's vocabulary. Quite the contrary, she loved danger. Hunting. In this kind of old fashioned world, she had to fight hard to get to the top.
