No idea but in the unused GLaDOS voice files, GLaDOS says Chell's name. Twice.

It was an awesome moment for me being a nerd and all but it was also a sad moment because I realized that I've been saying Chell's name wrong. I say "Shell" instead of "Ch-ell." DX

You have to look through the game files to find them. You'll need a program called GCFscape to do so.

@Niney: except it's not useful at all, because it probably just worked because there was conversion gel before...and since there will always be some spot of it left, no use for the portal on the no-portal-surface ._.
