Kaya sat down, exhausted. She licked her paws. They were sore and bruised. Kaya sniffed at her wing. It had been limp ever since she woke up. Kaya barked weakly, trying to howl.

Tayenta licked the leaf gently. She rolled the taste on her tongue, then shrugged and padded away, leaving the plant. Her silent paws stepped lightly as she made her way back to camp. The slight breeze ruffled her fur.

Poppy landed on the ground and howled.
