"Broken pieces of
a barely breathing story..."

"It's over. Sorry, hun, but you were just a little too sweet for my taste. Roxxy's just a little tougher, ya know? I don't wanna go hurtin' yer feelings." Charlie's rough voice purred into Lenora's ear through the phone. In the background she could hear a high-pitched giggle. "You understand, right babe?"
"Uh, y-yeah. I... I understand. I just wish that-" She started to say, her soft voice trembling with tears. "Peeerrfect. See ya sometime around, eh?" He interrupted, then hung up.
Staring at the phone in her hand, Lenora felt the tears starting to come, but shook her. "No... I... I have to be tough..." She said to herself, and then went back into the little truck stop diner where she worked as a waitress. It was a crappy job, but it paid the bills, and truckers gave good tips if you knew how to talk to them.
That was how she'd me Charl- no. "No thoughts of him." She thought. Setting her mouth in a grim line, she went back to work.

"Dancing slowly in an empty room,
can the lonely take the place of you?
I sing myself a quiet lullaby...
Let you go and let the lonely in
to take my heart again."

She fell onto her couch with a sigh and began unlacing her shoes, taking them off. Stretching her toes and arch, she stood up, then pointed one delicate foot in front of her and went up on the pointes of her toes. Ballet was her passion, but ballerinas don't fair well in the rural countryside, and she had never found a way out. "Maybe someday..." She dreamed as she danced around the empty room, her feet squeaking against the rough linoleum.
Dancing until she breathed heavily, she collapsed onto the couch, turning on her small television. A static-y rerun of some old comedy came on, and as the fake audience laughed, Lenora's eyes drifted shut....
And then opened in alarm as she felt a pressure of a person sit on the couch next to her. Night had fallen, casting the little room into shadows, light from the TV playing on the ceiling. Turning her head slowly in fear, she came face to face with a glowing creature, black holes where eyes should be and chains hanging from it's tattered white clothes. "Wh-Who are you?" She asked, her voice shaking.
Looking at her sadly, it opened it's mouth and spoke, words whispering like dying memories.
"It's me, Lenora. The Lonely."

"...where there once was love
now there's only me
and the lonely..."

Story?

The dead lands, Hah! Such a joke. They only call it so because I loom out here like a forgotten shadow. My land is very lush, plantlife abides and flourishes here. But no other animals come here.
The ones who have sleep in dormant piles of stained bones.
The shackles on my soul, oh how it hurts, as if it constricted it in a never-ending fight. They cursed me for little reason, I had only killed one or two of them. Why so must my pleasure in life be looked down upon? A raven mutt is what they called me, such a creative title, is it not? Their minds were so closed, not understanding in the least. Why bother letting them live.

For this reason, some "heroic" figure set out to curse me to my lands, shun me from life. He died as he put sed curse on me, I borrowed his life, sealed it in a jar and hung it from a gnarled branch of an unloved tree. Although he never did finish, the curse remained on me. But I feel it getting weaker, cracking down.

I thought there were no more like me.
Until of course, I heard of a feline named Farewell.
Goodbye and Farewell.
Such charming names, don't you agree?

He is the second part of me. He makes up one half of death. We were both shunned.

And revenge sits heavily on both of our hearts.
