We were bickering a bit as we loundged around. It was starting to get dark, and I knew that I would have to go soon.

" Anyways, I told you, the last time I saw a turtle in that ditch was yesterday! There was no turtle! " He argued.

" Yes there was! I exclaimed, folding my arms.

If only he knew how just the way he leans against the wall can drive me crazy...

I sighed.

" What's wrong with you? " Alec asked, giving up on our argument.

" Oh, nothing! " I said hastily, rearanging my face into a smile. Alec looked at me, but didn't press the subject.

All of a sudden he got up, his hands shoved in his pockets.

" What up? " I asked him.

He shrugged. " I'm just going to go walking. "

" Do you mind if I join you? " I asked tentivley.

Alec shrugged again. I took this as a yes and followed out of his yard and into the street. We were just walking in silence, when I heard a car. I went to go on to the side of the road, but Alec didn't follow me.

" Alec! " I called out. " Car! " He looked up and went to join me, but all of a sudden, the car sped up, planning on mowing down Alec.
He stood like a deer in headlights as the car came closer.

" NOOOO! " I screamed. I pushed him out of the way and felt pain as the car hit my waist.. I fell on top of him, just inside his yard.

We laid there for a moment, as we caught our breaths. All of a sudden, his mom comes out, clutching at him.

" My dear baby! " Then as I saw the medics pull up, Alec's face blocked my view.

" Why did you do it? " He asked quietly, his blue eyes wide.

" B-because I l-love you... " I stuttered as blood poured out of my mouth. Right away, the medics converged on me, and shooed him away. He was stock-still, staring at me in a way that he never had before. As they closed the door to the abulance, I flet hope on our future.

His eyes were low and omnipresent. The blizzard was hogging his only line of sight, but quickly it started to clear up, and he could see just a bit more now.

It was nice to be able to see every once and awhile.

The slushy snow was starting to seep through his shoes and was hounding his socks. "Let me in," they wept. "I want warmth...!"

"No, no." He chimed, stopping. "Little snowflakes, you'll melt! Quickly, get out of my shoes!"

But as he shook his shoe, a little pink fairy dropped out.
"Huh...?"
