Jayfeather walked carefully toward the Moonpool, paws stepping in the same places they had for as long as he'd been medicine cat. "Nightpaw... I'm glad you came back to us." He took a moment to gather himself back up. "But if you ever leave again, I'll turn you into mouse fodder, you got that?" He swatted at her ear, still just as surprisingly accurate as ever.

Nightpaw paused to rub her stinging ear with one paw. "yes, Jayfeather. Of course."

Nightpaw leapt across the stream border with Windclan. Kestralflight was waiting there with Flametail.

Jayfeather breathed in the scent of the ancient path, smiling. "Alright, let's get a move on." He kept it short and sweet, heading up the path behind the others.

A moment later, Willowshine appeared and joined them as they made their way down the well trodden path.

Once they reached the Moonpool, Jayfeather turned to the other cats. "Before we begin our dreams, I have a certain matter to see too..." He turned to his apprentice. "Nightpaw, step forward."

Nightpaw felt her pelt tingle. This was it. Finally she was going to become a full medicine cat. Nightpaw took a deep breath, and stepped forward to the edge of the pool.

Jayfeatherstood in front of Nightpaw, his blind eyes seeming to stare straight into her soul. "I, Jayfeather, medicine cat of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help, she will serve her Clan for many moons. Nightpaw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan, and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"

Nightpaw lifted her head and looked at each Medicine cat in turn. Flametail, his soul and bright as a flame, from Shadowclan smiled at her encouragingly. Willowshine of Riverclan dipped her head in respect, a kind smile on her face. Kestralflight of Windclan winked with amusement. Nightpaw turned her gaze to Jayfeather last. When she spoke, her meow rang out over the hollow proud and clear. "I do."

"Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your true name as a medicine cat. Nightpaw, from this moment you shall be known as Nightwillow. StarClan honors your strength and perseverance, and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of ThunderClan." He gave her an encouraging smile before resting his muzzle on her head.
