FAQ

If you are going to answer a question, make it clear and simple. Feel free to ask. ^^


1. What is the process of asking permission of joining accounts?
   
   1. Create a thread saying that you and the other user want to merge.
   2. Have other person post saying yes.
   3. Await approval.
   4. Move pets over, or see if Tess can do it.
2. Are there any restrictions?
   
   *Are there more?*
   
   1. The users don't have many warnings.
   2. The users can not know each other in real life (share a computer).
   3. You can not merge with a COPPA'd user.
   4. You can not merge with someone that is too new, like 3 or 4 months new. Sometimes 5. ^^
   5. The admins usually deny merging to people who have merged and unmerged within a few days or weeks before.
   6. When applying for staff positions both members must meet the requirements and do an application. Both must be accepted as well, not just one member of an account to get the job.
3. Why can't the two people know each other in real life?
   

   because if you already know each other in real life
   
   

   1. it's hard for us to tell for sure if you're really two separate people (and not just two accounts owned by one person wanting to get away with cheating)
      
   2. there's no point in merging, because you can already play together without having to share an account

   
   
4. What do you do if you decided that you want to unmerge?
   
   *Not official*
   
   1. Agree on who will get which pets. (Does not apply if you already have them separated.)
   2. Email the CS help email to request reactivation.
   3. Send pets over.
5. Am I allowed to remerge with the same person that I unmerged with?
   
   1. No, you may not.
6. If one of the members on the account quits, the other owner keeps all the pets, correct?
   
   1. Depends on the partnership.
7. When the admin merges, does all of the "Given to you by:" things stay the same or does it say it like it was a trade?
   
   1. No, and it only links to a mass trade.
8. Does the Oekaki get moved over?
   
   1. Oekakis are not transferred, and they don't disappear. If you merge onto another account, your current account is disabled so you can't access it, but the posts and gallery still exist.
9. Does the items get transferred while on the pets?
   
   1. Items can be transferred, but they won't stay on any pets that are currently wearing them. They'll go back into your inventory.
10. Will the bookmarks be transferred?
    
    1. No, you will have to do that again manually.
11. Is thread/post ownership moved over as well?
    
    1. Most topic ownerships are not transferred but you can request the admins to transfer ownership of a couple of topics such as an art thread (only the first posts, not every reply ever made)
12. Should we have IM or have some form of communication?
    
    1. Yes, but it shouldn't be anything like email or phones. CS is largely for protecting your identity and personal information. No names, phone numbers, emails, etc should be given out. Skype is good because you can use usernames rather than emails or other personal information.

Tips and Quotes

Here are some hints if you do want to merge account[some may already be mentioned, but I wanted to put in my two cents];


-They are a lot of work. It isn't easy. I'd plan out certain duties for each member of the account such as trade, messages, auctions, and art shops.

-I reccomend having pets separated, incase anything ever happens and you need to 'un-merge'

-Have an easy way of communicating, such as Xat or Skype, we use both and more.

-I reccoment discussing trades and if you like to gift discuss which pets you can gift to other users so neither is upset about sending a gift that will be accepted.

-Have septarate trade groups as well, as people like to ask for pets from both I reccomend putting that in your rules.

-Having a separate wishlist or hoardlist, as you can never know which member of the account wants which pets and so on and so forth.

We don't recommend merging but this is how you would go about it.

It would be best to merge with a trustworthy online friend. You cannot know the person in real life since you can play normally with them.
You must ask permission from an admin by both of you posting here. Do not move anything over with out permission since it could easily be taken as cheating.
Wait for permission. This usually takes a little while since the Admins are busy and they will be checking both users history for anything suspicious.
If permission is granted, you can then move over everything onto 1 account or we can move everything over. That just depends if you want to keep everything organized and send things over in a specific order or just want everything done at once.
Once everything it moved, the empty account will be disabled.

I just want to add that you are taking a risk by merging accounts. If something goes wrong, you both will be held responsible. If your partner breaks the rules and has to be banned, you will lose everything on your merged account.

I'd like to put in, since I was in fact merged with a good online friend of mine ^^

Unless you're merging and combining your collections, keep pets well organized and separate.

Now items, me and Jade shared everything, and wen we split I let her split the items too, simply because I trusted her and most items we had doubles of. If items are important to both members on an account, then make sure you have a plan on splitting them up if you split the account.

PM Folder's are helpful, me and Jade each had our own folder for PMs and such. Communication is a must have, and PM's work wonderfully for this. Like Bur+Collie said, Xat, Skype, MSN, and other Instant messaging site work well.

Sharing Username/signature/avatar is big, but make sure you ask your partner before you change anything, unless they really don't care.

I'll have to say, me and Jade merging was amazing, as we were both versatile when it came to conflicting things on the account. Most people wouldn't recommend it, but I would, only if you are really good friends online, and mature enough.

I think this is another good point to put under why account sharers shouldn't know each other in real life:

If you split accounts, it might ruin your friendship. If one person wants to split, and the other doesn't, it could be devastating to your real life friendship, which wouldn't be good.

Maple Edit: PM's are absolutely wonderful when you need to communicate, just for the record.

Remember, you need to share personal "space" (eg Siggy, Interests) so be careful.

Don't hold account merging for extended periods of time. If you are merging, merge within a couple of days, or else it will be considered multi - accounting.

And no, it's not possible to send the notifications to two email addresses. You'll need to set up a shared email account you can both use.

I have some more hints and No-Go's.
No not put an advertisement in your signature that you want to merge. If someone you know well enough wants to merge too, that's fine. But merging with a complete stranger is an extremely dumb move. If you are going to merge in teh first place, what is the point if it ins't with someone you like talking to? Collie and I love talking to each other. We've known each other for three years. Not 5 minutes. That's quite a large different.
Just my two cents.

I find it rediculously stupid when people say
'Yeah I just talked to them and worked everything out'.
You obviously don't know them at all, what's the point? There is nothing special about a merged account, it doesn't make you cooler, more popular, etc. It just puts two people and a lot of pets in one account.
Again, just my, quite possibly, four cents.

Not trying to be rude, just don't want you to be sad when the person you don't know at all wants to split from you.

I wouldn't think that was possible seeing as Tess has said many times that you can play together as it is.
