Shady continued walking long until sunset when she found herself on the top of the cliff looking over the view. The setting sun silouetting the trees and illuminating the watering hole below was breathtaking. She stared long at the gourgeous vista, as beautiful as it was, she was still unsure if she should stay. She had been a gypsy for so long, she wondered if staying would suit her or not...her thoughts carried her mind miles off...

Cavalia looked at her then at the entrance of the cave. Suddenly Eli flew in screaming. That scream could only mean one thing. Wolves! "Dahlia run!" Cavalia nipped at her flank hard trying to get her out of the cave before it was too late.

Dahlia froze slightly. But then when he nipped her she ran out of the cave and into the open.

Cavalia heard them howling. They were coming from the right side of the cave several yards away. "Head in the direction of the water hole." He nipped her flank hard to get her to run in that direction. Eli flew over head screaming so as to let other horses know of the danger. As Cavalia reached the watering hole he noticed another mare. He neighed to her hoping she would follow them out of danger.

Dahlia followed Cavalia. She easily made it to the water hole. She kept going trying to get out of danger.

Cavalia neighed urgently at Shady then followed Dahlia. He then quickly passed her and led the way up the mountain. He could still hear the wolves but they sounded like a faint whisper to him now as he raced his muscles rippling.

A shrill scream snapped Shady back from Dreamland and she saw a herd or horses thundering away from the caves towards the watering hole. At first, she wondered why but soon she heard the piercing howl of wolves and cowered in fear. She had flashbacks for a few moments.

Cavalia making sure Dahlia was safe near the top of the mountain raced back to Shady. He neighed urgently for her to follow. He didn't want to snake her but he would if he had to to get her out of the danger. He heard the wolves they were getting closer.

Dahlia watched Cavalia leave. She hoped he would be okay.

Cavaila nickered to Eli telling him to stay with Dahlia. He knew he'd be ok. He had fought off wolves before and he would do it again. He circled Shady with head lowered and teeth slightly bared so that she knew he meant business.
