Welcome! This is a wild horse Rp, as the title suggests. However, this isn't just some mares and stallions getting mates. And this also isn't one big herd. No. This is for real. In this Rp, horses will behave like they really do in the wild.

A harem, or band/herd, consists of one stallion and a few mares. There is only one stallion in a band, and any colts will be kicked out at two years old. The stallion mates with all the mares during the spring, when they're in heat. Next spring, one year later, they will give birth to one foal, rarely twins. A few days after giving birth they will go into heat again and very seldom a mare will be in heat for the first few days of summer.

A lone mare is a mare or female yearling that does not belong to a herd, but in the spring there will be very few of these, because stallions fight over mares constantly. Mares are like prized possessions or trophies to a stallion.

A bachelor is a stallion or male yearling that has not yet started a herd of his own. Bachelors will sometimes join together to steal mares from herds or will walk alone, occasionally harassing band stallions until they manage to get a mare of their own.

A band stallion is the one and only stallion in a herd. He steals mares from other bands and mates with all the mares in the spring. He is also the one responsible for protecting his herd against predators and rival stallions. If a band stallion dies, the mares may either split up or the stallion's eldest son may take over the herd.

A lead mare is a mare that is chosen by the lead stallion to lead the herd to watering holes, and also takes the lead when they migrate to the canyon/valley each year in the fall. She is bred by the band stallion.

A foal is a baby horse of either gender from 0-12 months old.

A yearling is a horse of either gender from the ages 1-3 years. Colts are kicked out at the age of two, and fillies may either leave to find a herd of their own, or stay.

A stallion is a male horse over the age of three years and a mare is a female horse over the age of three years.

Courting is a more gentle way to bring a mare into a herd, or to tell them where to go if a stallion is moving the band to a new location. A stallion will nudge the mare in the direction he wants her to go.

Snaking is a harsh way of getting a mare into a herd, and is how stallions steal mares from other stallions. The band stallion will lower his head and flatten his ears, galloping behind the mare, chasing her into his herd. If a mare is being snaked, there is little she can do to resist the stallion before being forced to go where he wants you to.

If a mare is stolen from another herd, she may sneak back to her old harem if the band stallion has his back turned.

Rules
1All horses must start out as a bachelor/lone mare. That means a bachelor has to snake/court a mare into his herd before he is considered a band stallion. And, you cannot be in your own herd.
2 Do not steal a mare from someone's herd if the band stallion is offline.
3 No god-modding/power-playing.
4 Be realistic. No horse has powers or wings or anything.
5 There can only be up to six mares in a herd; one lead mare and five subordinate mares.
6 If you cuss, star it out.
7 There are no territories. A band stallion and his mares just roam the land freely.
8 No flawless horses.
9 As many horses as you can handle.
10 There aren't any mates. A band stallion mates with all the mares.
11 Use fades to black if you're mating(or something like that, just as long as you don't go into detail), and no force mating.
12 Don't kill someone's horse unless the other user agrees.
13 Mares don't really have a say in band matters, and can hardly do anything at all when being snaked.
14 Mares have to wait one year before they can have their foal. Get my permission before having a premature birth or before having two foals.
15 This is a quarter semi-literate; at least a couple good sentences per post.

Territory

Utasia- Utasia is simply the name of the land. There's nothing special about it, it's just what horses refer the entire area as.

The Mountain- The mountain in Utasia is where the horses spend spring, summer, and some of fall. There is plenty of lush, green grass. It's not very steep, but it abruptly stops and ends at a cliff at the top. But beware: mountain lions are constantly on the prowl.

The Watering Hole- The watering hole is located at the base of the mountain, on the opposite side of the mountain as the forest. It's generally the biggest source of water, but small ponds, puddles, and streams can be found on the mountain. In the summer, the streams and everything dry out, making the watering hole the only source of water. It's about half its normal size in summer.

The Valley- The valley is where all the herds migrate in fall. This is where they spend their winters; the walls of the valley help shelter them from the wind and storms. There is a stream snaking through it, but since they only come here in the winter, it is frozen over and the horses have to eat snow to quench their thirst, or break the ice. They dig through the snow to get to grass and roots to eat.

The Forest- The forest is located at the base of the mountain on the opposite side of the mountain as the watering hole. Cougars and even wolves lurk here, so watch out. Horses have to journey through here to reach the valley on the other side when migrating for the winter. A few small forested parts of land are littered here and there on the mountain.

The Cliff- The cliff is the abrupt drop at the top of the mountain. Up here the lush grass vanishes and it's all rocks and dirt and dust. A fall from here will surely kill you.

Personality: A gorgeous but super-dee-duper independent mare. She loves her freedom and would go to the extreme to keep it. She is very rude, sarcastic, hot-headed, and even cold at times. It takes forever for her to warm up to you, and even longer to earn her trust 100%. If she trusts you she trusts you 100% and if you betray her she'll never trust you again. Senja isn't a horse who gives second chances.
History: Senja was born to a medium sized herd, that had about three or four mares in it. She had a couple of older half siblings, but she often sat back and watched everyone lived their lives. She had to get used to the neglect, because no one paid much attention to her. She knew her parents loved her, they showered her with affection, but only when she managed to get their attention. So she gave up. At one years old she was sick of being ignored, so she left, in hopes that her mother would notice her absence and realize that she was ignoring her daughter. Senja wandered deep into the forest, where she was attacked by a wolverine. Her mother showed up as from nowhere and tried to fight it off, getting killed in the process. Devastated, she ran away, and ran into another yearling named Hollywood. Hollywood was a very nice colt, and Hollywood's dad let Senja into their herd. The valley flooded and Senja was separated from them in the storm. After the storm, she sadly tried to find her old herd, but to no avail. The mares had split and her father had disappeared. So she assumed him dead and moved on. She decided never again to belong to a band, as she believed that they were useless and sooner or later attaching yourself to others would only lead to heartbreak. She went off on her own, and was forcefully snaked by a stallion named Black. He was very abusive. Even the simplest things received her wounds; if she strayed more than a yard from the others he'd go berserk and leave her bleeding and bruised. She hardly went a few days without being beat up. One day, he got angry with another mare and tried to kill her. Senja got in the way. Black beat her to a pulp, and left her to bleed to death. Although she was in no condition to be moving, she forced herself to anyways, and barely managed to survive. She secretly followed a band to Utasia and settled here, where she vowed to never belong to any stallion, not willingly at least because she quickly learned she had no power over them. And, sure enough, Comet snaked her into his band. But she slowly grew closer to him, and stood up for the other mares as she grew closer to them too when problems stirred. After all the trouble, she was finally stolen, which broke her heart, though no one would ever guess it. She temporarily resided in Ebony's band, but planned to escape. However, Ebony let her go and she returned to Comet. But it wasn't long until ANOTHER stallion called Spirit snaked her, and there was a lot of frustration getting her back, but finally Comet succeeded with the help of Cavalia. Comet and Cavalia's herds are now living together in a cave, helping protect each other's mares.

Personality: Blunt and serious, Pozar is a bit cold-blooded, and doesn't care about anyone until he gets attached to them. It seems as if the world has turned its back on him, so he shut the world away altogether. He's not very social and is very quiet. He also isn't considered sweet and kind, but you will find that he is quite affectionate and gentle.
History: Pozar was born slightly prematurely with a twin sister, Willow. Willow and Pozar were best friends, and their parents were the best anyone could have. His mother was bold and brave, his father strong and kind. One day, Willow strayed from the herd and was killed by a cougar. Talon, his father, found out and told Pozar. Pozar ran away, wanting to be alone, absolutely unhappy. There he found a yearling named Caspian. He and Caspian quickly made friends. Caspian disappeared; it turned out he returned to his herd, leaving Pozar lost and alone. Siela, his mother, set out to search for him. At six months old, in the summer, a wildfire started. He got severely burned and he heard his mother's dying scream as a flaming tree fell on her. He never even got to say goodbye. Talon found him in the flaming forest and helped him out. Pozar was a bit depressed after this, refusing to eat, and to make things worse his snotty half sisters Snow and Lava kept scolding him, telling him to suck it up and move on. But how could he? He lost his friend, his mother, and his sister, and now others were treating him like dirt; the other mares were either annoyed with his being so filled with sorrow or just plain out ignored him. In the fall, humans rounded them up. He was thrown in a corral with other foals and yearlings, and Talon thrown in a corral for stallions and mares. Without their father there, Snow and Lava just treated him even more harshly. Talon eventually broke free, but left Pozar behind. He never figured out why but he was beyond angry and found a hole in the gate. He squeezed through, and ran in the opposite direction of his home, Psych's Mountain(don't use the name or I'll eat you >8U). There he was attacked by a cougar and fell through thin ice, drowning, flailing, bleeding out... suddenly, a paint yearling called Patience helped him out. Talon also appeared, and took Pozar home, but he didn't feel welcome. By then he was pretty reserved and cold-blooded, no longer caring about his herd mates. When Talon died and Indigo, the lead mare and her son, Aztec, took over the herd, Pozar just left, and by then he was only a year old. When the valley flooded, he was two years, and that was the same flood that separated Senja from Hollywood. He found a lost yearling, called Tekki. He liked her, and he helped her through the harsh storm. By the time it stopped he had really grown attached to her. He found Tekki's father, but Tekki's father assumed that Pozar was getting Tekki into his band and attacked. Deftly avoiding the older stallion's powerful kick, he fled, tears brimming his eyes that he had to leave her without even saying goodbye... just like Siela. At three years he found Soul, a pretty black mare who joined his herd. In the fall, she also disappeared. He ran into Tekki again, now a full ground mare, but he left her, figuring that she too would eventually be gone, just like everyone else he cared about. He left Psych's Mountain all together and ended up here, where he got Ash into his band after time healed him a bit, but is slightly doubting her loyalty; she seems to still want Cavalia.

Personality: Rou is extremely dangerous, as far as mares go. She is destructive, that's all there is to it. She is out of control. Her heart aches in anger and despair and she feels as if the world has turned it's back on her. Things have happened to make her chest throb and her head spin. She feels alone, sick, dark, cold, and she just wants some warmth in her life, even though she won't admit it out loud, not even to herself. She desires to be close to something or someone, to find the security she needs to keep the earthquake in her heart from ripping her to pieces. She finds someway to be destructive, whether it's towards herself or someone else. She is cold and wishes to appear unfeeling, maybe to make others feel uneasy around her because she "wants to be left alone". Even though justice was her original goal and she still tends to believe that, she ends up killing or hurting horses that get in her way. She may have good looks and seem innocent, but she is a very dark and sinister horse. So if you do something that sets her off or betray her... Watch your back. Because she'll be breaking it.
