Advice for doing CS events while working full time?

Postby kuxip » Fri Nov 07, 2025 7:34 am

Hello! I hope this is the right place to post this haha

As the title suggests, I have been struggling with doing CS events while working a full time job.
After this most recent Halloween event, I was really ready to hang in the towel and accept that I won't be able to get token pets. I figured I would ask if anyone could give me advice for how to better do events.

For some context, I work in a hospital, and my commute is about 1 hour away. I spend about 13-14 hours away from home every day 😳 and by the time I get home, I barely have time to shower, wash clothes, eat, then go to sleep.
I looooove CS, and I used to be on it every day all day lol I would get complete pet collections from events, or dang near close to it. So imagine my shock during the summer event, and now the halloween event where I managed to get 2 total candies this time around 😭 I used to set 20min timers to get as many tokens as I could! lol

Does anyone know how to balance this and working! I realize I probably won't be able to have complete collections anymore as I don't have enough time to go through trade threads/make posts, but I want to at least be able to get some token pets LOL

I love my job, however it has definitely taken many of my hobbies away from me.. and I really don't want to let CS become one of them

For anyone with a job that you can't do token hunting during, I think the only real option is going to be doing it on your off days. I know certain hospital jobs will have 11-12 hour shifts, sounds like that might be the case for you, but in exchange they aren't 5-days a week type jobs and you generally have extra days off compared to a 'normal' 9-5. I'm afraid I'm not too useful in how to manage time for that since I've personally never had too many obligations outside of work/on days off that forced me to be unable to token hunt, and my last job has been work from home where I could token hunt while working ^^'

But if/when you do have free time to hunt, I usually prefer using PC (its just faster in general imo) but even on the phone, my goto has always been to use timers. I usually find that the timer sound going off every 20 min starts to really grate on me after a couple hours, so I normally leave it on silent/vibrate and just make sure I'm not like, walking away from my phone constantly or doing something that would cause me not to notice it going off. And if stopping to token hunt doesn't break your concentration when doing other things, I personally tend to do a lot of mine while I've actively doing something else in my free time (playing games, watching tv, drawing, reading, etc.) anything you are normally doing on days off that it would be easy to stop and token hunt every 20-30 min.

Overall though it can be really hard to keep up as an adult with a fulltime job. The events are set up to give a decent opportunity to everyone but it is build with kids in mind so it doesn't really account for all the extra time consuming things adults also have to deal with. If you do want to get an idea for how much you'd have to do to complete an event entirely, most token events need about 120-150 tokens total to get all the pets (123 for this event, if I counted correctly), thats only adopting the exact amount needed from each box, it would require swapping for any you miss cause you got two of the same from a box, etc. But thats the bare minimum (token banner limit is usually 300, for context). And token events are pretty much always set up to cover two weekends to try and give people more of a chance to hunt on their off days. Overall though its just going to depend on how much free time you have and how much of it you are even able to spend token hunting, or if you want to be focusing on that in your free time at all.

Luckily the next token event isn't till easter and advent is easier to keep up with imo, since you just need to log in once a day, adopt, and leave till the next day.

it’s funny, i actually have hit banner limit more as an adult with a full time job than when i was a kid/teen/student xD

my job is nowhere near as intensive as a hospital, but i can still get pretty busy or have managers breathing down my neck that make checking my phone every 20 min difficult πŸ™„ i don’t set timers or anything but i do try to click the banner at an easy interval which makes it easier for me to remember to check back in at the right time.

when i’m at work/out/busy my best strat is to have the time page open on my phone and have cs in desktop mode and i just spam click the time link at the bottom of the page until a banner shows up. bc it pushes the page down you won’t accidentally click past it.

it usually only takes me 20 seconds max to get a banner and then i put my phone away and get back to what i'm doing. i’ve been at furry conventions, nice restaurants, on airplanes about to take off, walking down the street, and even at the club and i’ve still managed to find the time to grab tokens 😹

but at the end of the day, how many banners you manage to get is going to depend on how well it fits into your regular routine and if you’ve got a computer or phone on you when you are busy or on the clock lol

It sounds like you drive for your commute? I wonder if it might be possible for you to carpool with someone, or take public transport, so you can use a little bit of time to grab tokens... might be a big lifestyle change to make just for pixel pets, though, haha.

Alternatively, there are a lot of people who sell tokens for C$ during events, so if you're willing and able to either trade for C$ or buy them yourself, that might be of help to you. There's still the issue of making time to make those trades, but at least you aren't having to wait 20 minutes at a time for one candy, haha.

I work two 12 hour days and two 8 hour days. During work I can't use my phone but We have laptops for work everywhere. Instead of timers, I take not of when I get my last token. For instance I pick one up on my phone when I wake up/before leaving for work. I get one more when I get to work. I keep track of the time at work when I got my last token, and work around that.
I get home, grab a token. Get things done around the house, wait out the timer for the next token, grab it then get in the shower. Need to go to the grocery store? I wait until the next token is up, grab it, then go, get another when I get to my destination.

Even if it doesn't sound like much, they really start to add up

Depending on how much disposable income you have buying c$ is probably the easiest option

Ex. The halloween event required bare minimum 123 tokens to get every pet (not counting trading in tokens and getting the same outcome, let's assume you can just swap token outcomes/litterswap in that case)

Most people sell their leftover tokens at 1 c$ apiece torwards the end of the event. In that case if you're patient and find the right people to buy from you can remove the time/waiting aspect entirely and spend around $10 USD on tokens and you will get almost everything

This does have problems in that it's not as fun to follow along with the pets as they get released since in the early-mid event stages people are selling tokens for much higher prices, and it excludes banner pets which you will likely have to trade variable amounts for since if you aren't clicking many banners you're very unlikely to adopt one yourself
