Cat Name: sunburst / sun's light rippling over the fields
Gender: male
Rank: warrior
Clan: the darkened skies, previously a dawn riser cat
Age: 1 year, 6 months
Kitty trying out for: #900cPrompt: a prophecy that they were the one to become power-hungry and almost evil. terrified by the prophecies, sunburst's mother had been quick to deflect all and any rumors that spread about him, silencing all her clanmate's doubts and murmured insults. sunburst had adored his mother for being so kind, yet this quickly grew into overprotectiveness. she seemed to almost suffocate him as he grew older, always worrying about this or that. eventually he grew tired and bitter, sneaking off to see friends or play with the other apprentices.
but he was starting to get too comfortable. a strange black cat came to him one day, speaking of power and respect they could give to him if they made a deal. he contemplated for a good hour or so, discussing it with the weird outsider, but his mother caught him, exploding on him and dragging him away. the shadowy cat slipped away before he could call them back, much to his disappointment. back at the dawn risers camp, his mother lectured him and yowled about the prophecy with distress clear in her trembling voice.
after a few more days, his mother came to take him somewhere.
is she punishing me? but as they walked, he noticed his siblings with him, and recognized the path they were walking— they were going to see his other mother, in the darkened skies! but yet, as they found her, he saw his parents discussing with worried looks, occasionally glancing back at him. his fur spiked with annoyance.
what now? is she trying to shame me in front of my other mom, too? but before he could hiss a bitter comeback, his other mother trotted forward to pick him up by the scruff, beckoning for his siblings to follow as they padded towards the darkened skies camp. his heart slammed in his chest as he realized.
she's leaving me and my siblings! but he didn't get a chance to call over his shoulder as he glanced back.
sunburst jolted awake, fur bristling like a bush of thistles as his unsheathed claws tore into the soft moss and feathers beneath him. his ears twitched. he looked around, half-expecting to see his fellow dawn risers. instead, he caught glimpses of pelts through the vines draped over the den entrance, and his ears drooped in disappointment. right. i forgot .. i'm not a dawn riser anymore.
