not a lot of thought goes behind coloring in bases when i don't make edits tbh, i just figure out a palette and go with the flow. so these are off the dome designs that took ~10 minutes each.

For the color i decided to colorpick a small highlight from trinket's eyes and go off of that. The reason why i chose a small highlight from the eyes for the base for this is because it wasn't too bright, nor too dark of a blue in my opinion and would compliment Trinket the best. As for the pattern, i had a couple cutesy ideas for the stars, but ultimately landed on a star pattern that kinda vaguely matches the type of stars seen on trinket's design itself.

This one. Hoo boy 😭. This one gave me a lot more trouble. I already knew what i wanted to do for it; i wanted to do a picnic blanket pattern, inspired by the picnic basket held on the tail. Simple idea, right? Yet it took me several drafts to figure out how I was going to balance the colours as well as avoid overshading it, as I was worried that would be doing too much for a simple item application. In the end I'm happy with how it turned out but MAN did it leave so many unposted variants of this on my imgur from me being indecisive.

I don't often think much when drawing. For this, I just absolutely love lynxes and figured
others would like lynx lines. I originally wanted to make it look more realistic than non but
decided half-way through that a brown and green color pallet would look nice. I found a
picture of a lynx holding a rabbit and figured it'd make a good item for it. Could be a little
arctic rabbit/hare plush that was loved to the point of forming the little guy.

This is Halloween, this is Halloween~~ My favorite holiday!!! I had to make a spooky little guy
for a submission. The fire just kinda appeared and decided to stay in the way a story seems to
write itself sometimes. I decided for his main body, I had to use different shades of grey; to
give an ashen affect of course.

This one I did while away for the weekend! I knew I wanted to do something with
an eyeball, so I asked a friend to give me a random eye color. He gave me green. I then
looked up green eyes, found a picture I liked, and color picked from it! For the main
body, I color picked a random color from the eye marble, went to Coolors for color
palettes, and decided to look and see what color palettes it came up with. From that,
I used the four colors (not the one color picked from the eye marble) to design the
main body! I decided the colors from the palette were too perfect to not go with some
floral type of design.

For this one, I again knew I wanted to do something with a moon. The question was,
what kind of moon? Blue moon? Blood moon? Harvest moon? The night I left for the
weekend was the night of a harvest moon, so I decided to look up different harvest moon
pictures and let my friend, same from before, choose. He chose one of a blood moon but I
decided that was alright! As with the others, not many thoughts crossed my mind. I simply
opened Krita and let my mouse do all the work.

If you can't tell by now, I love using my friends as inspiration! I asked two friends for color
palettes and one replied purple and the other purple and brown. This of course meant that
I must use both to make purple fire! This one was more complicated as a color palette I
found that I liked only had two brown colors, making it difficult for me to figure out what
to do for her base. After trying different styles (stars, splotches, hearts) I decided to go
with a sort of contour along her fluffy parts, toes, elbows, ear tips, and muzzle. Of course
I couldn't resist giving her a blaze stripe, either!

For this one, I again asked my friends for a moodboard or palette but I guess they're
tired of me using them for inspiration because after three hours no one responded. I decided
to just go into the Keepsie server and ask around there! I got a lovely moodboard to base this
cutie on! I struggle a lot with moodboards, especially with this one in particular, but I pushed
through because it is a beautiful moodboard and I decided that I wanted to see what the
outcome would look like anyway. This one was a lot of trial and error, figuring out what
colors should go where, what imagery should go where, that sort of stuff. I didn't struggle too
much at first. I knew I wanted rainbows across the body and legs. I did struggle with the
shooting star a lot and had to look up different shooting star pixel art to get it right, but I'm
overall proud of it! The speckles of stars I wasn't sure if I even wanted in the middle, but I'm
glad I kept it. The smile on its flank as well as the planets around its body were sort of last
minute additions. I originally wanted a UFO on the hare but couldn't get it to fit, so a moon
it was! The small planet and lines were things I wanted to add once I added them to the main
body, as a sort of way to tie them together like how I did the first lynx.

Wow I talk a lot...

If I had any memories of making these
guys, I would absolutely yap about them,
but! I don't </3 Thank you memory issues!
The one thing I do remember is that the
second one was a custom based on a
moodboard about a rosy maple moth.
It was also the first time I've ever made
line edits! The third one was a secret
Santa present. I don't know anything
other than that </3

I started by colorpicking the darkest blue from Trinket's eyes, but it felt a bit too monotone, so it's a gradient between that and one of the highlight colors to give it a little more depth. The star shapes used are the same as in their fur, but in various shades of yellow. I was going to add a border stripe of yellow at the base of the bandana, but it looked odd with the dark blue lineart, and adding more fitting lineart made it blend in too much with the body, so I scrapped that and moved the stars around a little + added a few more instead :3


I immediately knew to use a heart pattern to match the ones throughout the keepsie design, but then decided it looked too empty, so I ended up adding those thick stripes! I colorpicked most of the oranges from the eyes so I know it's going to be cohesive with the design, and added some shading :3
The white hearts are inspired by the white fur patterns and white cloth on the picnic basket, slightly lightened so they blend in well with the scarf and don't pop out too much. All the hearts were originally the same darker brown, and I went as far as exporting that, but when I saw it in the actual zoomed out keepsie size, they looked a little bit too dark! So I lightened some.
I messed around a bit with removing some chest fur, but that turned out to be a lot of line edits because of the wing at the back, so I shifted the scarf around so it still looks good without doing too much of that.

I either keep some sense of theme (or just overall vibe, sometimes I don't think too hard) whenever designing.


My "practice round" so i kept it simple -- rose bush!


Inspired by kintsugi ceramics. Mostly went with the flow for this one.


Third one I just wanted something summery and I felt like drawing water.

All three took me 20-30 minutes each. I like to keep the shading relatively simple, only really adding depth and shine where needed.

Bluejay gryphon! I went in with a pretty solid plan, though I would tidy up the wings more next time. Keepsake is a nest of blue jay eggs.


This one I had no plans for. I like drawing hair/fluff like this, and from there it just kind of... snowballed. Originally this was going to be more of a regular vampire-type keepsie, and the keepsake was going to be a candle! It wasn't until I started doodling hearts on the leg that everything fell into place. Changed the keepsake to a playing card after.


Okay, going all out with the line edits and keepsake here, though I wanted to keep the coloring simple (yet interesting). Bnuuy

All of these took me roughly 60 to 80 minutes, lines included.

was tryna think of like. an item to replace the little ball with and i went with a jar of jam. strawberry because red is the best color & flavor


for one without changing the little ball trinket, the first thing i thought of was one of those glass marbles with the bright twisty bits inside, so i made the marble first and the rest of the keepy followed

For this one, I was very inspired by diaphonized specimens! I did an art assignment last year inspired by diaphonized specimens and I’m honestly just really intrigued with the colours made my the chemicals, This design was the first I did.



I have been very interested in a gyaru sort of beachy style lately, and light blue has been on my mind lately (if you can’t tell it’s quickly becoming my favourite colour). I saw an image on Pinterest with these really nice swirls and flowers and it inspired this design!

This guy’s a little alien cat, I draw cats quite often so he was nice to draw. I couldn’t decide for a while on what his pattern should be, but I decided on cute little spots inspired by stars/solar systems! This also led me to make his keepsake a little planet that looked like in his tail.



I love drawing with bright, contrasting colours (again including blue :3), and a dragon was something I haven’t really seen in keepsie form. I’ve been getting back into drawing dragons (since my wings of fire phase), so I’ve been drawing quite a few lately. I couldn’t quite decide on the keepsake for this design either, but landed on a little dragon egg so that the long tail wouldn’t be covered up.
