space It was only yesterday that these streets were congested with the noisy traffic and chatter of fables anticipating the night of the ball. They had scurried around dreaming of mystery romances with nobles, and the upscale food selection an event of this caliber would enjoy. They envisioned dancing under ornate chandeliers and stepping out to the balcony for a moment to find their old selves again. They had imagined that the ball would bring a new peak to Sundering Day's festivities.
But now, that ball had rendered them sullen husks of themselves, for those who were confident enough to walk the streets. Those who weren't here were likely at home or temporary lodging—the most cautious would fret over concerns of their own safety, while the more emotional would be sympathizing with whom the deceased left behind. As he walked the streets, he heard pieces of conversations, some of them composing of rumors that seem to have gained life, as if making up for the prince of Stormire's loss of life.

Though last night's murder had weighed heavily on everyone's minds, Shuò carried his head high as usual. He had seen and caused his own number of murders, enough that this one did not phase him. It even slightly excited him, to be reminded that the seemingly mighty could fall so easily, never mind if Lórien's death was orchestrated by himself and/or others. The murder was also somewhat of a blessing to Shuò, because it presented him the opportunity to go to the more crowded places he wished to go to before. He was kept from them on account of his wish to maintain distance from other fables and their warmth. But, as things stood now, he felt strongly that any fable would be reluctant to approach a stranger, even if they were the friendly type that he'd had the misfortune of running into over so often during these past three days.

In the tavern, he had heard of a vendor in the East Market, who wove tapestries of landscapes she yearned to visit. Shuò felt that a tapestry from such a fable may be worthy of being designated as a gift, for the man who wove similar feeling into Shuò. But Shuò could go there another day as well. Rarely do intelligent living beings, like humans or fables, relinquish their griefs and fears within a day. (If they did, perhaps he would have found peace sooner.) And the East Market, he recalled, was the more quiet of the two markets. It was fine to save for another day.
But anything the embassy offered him today would be sure to charm him, with numerous fables looking for an answer, and politicians scrambling to maintain a semblance of normalcy despite the permanent absence of a house heir. The idea of too many fables in the embassy displeased him, of course, but the possibility of answers to his theories drew him back to the embassy with stronger feeling. Shuò had an urge to revisit the fountain as well, remembering the effects of the water on Sirëya's likeness. Perhaps the contents of the everdream elixir had a relationship with the Wellspring, too.

another day in faerendell has passed you by, and yet you still don’t have any firm answer as to who is responsible for lórien’s death. it’s a bit unnerving, to say the least, knowing that his murderer may still be on the prowl here in stormire, despite the additional safety measures introduced by the city council; you can’t help but worry that a lockdown like the one they've implemented only further endangers the cityfolk. nonetheless, your investigation is still a work in progress, and you won’t stop until this case is cracked.

with the dawn of another day in faerendell comes a lingering sense of disquiet. the city of stormire still hasn’t quite come to terms with the events of the masquerade ball, and it shows. there are fewer and fewer fables walking the streets with each passing day, with many preferring to stay within the safety of their own homes. the celebrations have dulled, the market has closed, and the overall atmosphere has become increasingly restless as fables wait for answers to be brought into the light, unable to do anything but wait for a verdict. you take to the streets today, determined not to sit still, hoping that this day will yield more answers than the previous one.

mask design: It nearly looks like a blindfold, several layers of intricate golden lace and dark embroidered fabric wrapping across the eyes, woven to display a burning night sky, world engulfed in a blazing inferno. Much of the lace is abstract. If you could get close enough to see its detail entirety, it would evoke horrific sorrow. Strings of blackened beads flow horizontally, asymmetrically, from one ear to the next, framing the eye-covering, bleeding up and across the fabric like rot spreading through veins. Golden strings of pearls hang asymmetrically, draping vertically from the rot's flow.

The mask is a testament to the realm they visit from, to the fires they awoke in. Despite its heavy symbolism, the mask is beautiful in its make; a controlled chaos only they can navigate.

Ryujin sighed as he watched the once bustling town fill with a tense atmosphere. Fables walked with a hurried pace and conversed in hushed murmurs. Everyone was waiting for the murderer to be found and for a verdict to be made. With the market closed, Ryujin would have to look elsewhere.
