Towards the center of the clearing is a lightning-charred stump, an oddity in this fae inhabited forest. Surrounding it is dozens of paw woven baskets filled with sheets of paper bark and writing quills, while atop it sits a very, very frantic
pale tabby cat. They too are surrounded by paper bark, though curiously the scent surrounding them is very seasonal. Which season? Depends on which side of the stump you’re on.
It’s rather hard to tell what exactly has got them in a tizzy, swishing their jingling beaded tail back and forth as they are, so you step closer. Just a bit closer…
“Can I help you?”
You startle as they whip around to face you, adjusting their glasses as they do. Some sort of apology falls from your lips as you trip over your tail in embarrassment. Whoops. Perhaps you didn’t mean to be caught.
The cat sighs at your apology but accepts it with grace. “Water under the bridge. Say, since you're here, would you care to fill out a survey?”
A what?
“Before this whole missing sun nonsense got started, the Seasonal Lords wanted to know how each group of cats – henceforth known as a ‘clan’ – celebrates each season. I don’t know if it’s a popularity contest or they’re actively trying to change things or what, but they were very insistent on pushing it off to me now that there’s a crisis.” They sigh again, louder this time. “I’m just The Assistant, I don’t have time to focus on this!”
Is there anything you can do to help?
The Assistant worries their lip for a moment before pushing a piece of paper bark towards you. “If you could answer these questions for your clan, that would make my life a whole lot easier. Here, I’ll even give you some goodies as a reward.”
Well, what are you waiting for? This can’t be that hard… right?

Starting on day one, you will receive a prompt to fill out related to the next season's celebrations. There will be multiple questions, but don't feel obligated to answer all of them! They're just there to get your brain flowing.
You may either write or draw your response. Writing responses must be at least 50 words long. Art responses must be at least a clean sketch and colored.
You will only get prizes for one or the other, not both. You will have two days to fill out the current prompt, after which it will roll over into the next one.
Prizes will be rewarded based on your effort (see below <3).

Current Season: SpringA distinct scent of ‘little animal’ fills your nose when you approach. At first you think it’s prey, but then the things in these woods have a tendency to be less than edible if you don’t know what you’re doing. So then, what could it be?
You lock eyes with The Assistant, who is… oh stars. A little giggle escapes you before you get the chance to stop it. Snuggled up next to them is a large white rat and a colorful kingfisher, huddling for warmth.
“Yes, yes, laugh it up,” The Assistant grumbles, though you notice they pull the rat a little closer. “With Helios refusing to come back, Persephone asked me to help keep her little companions warm. Not that it makes my job here harder, not at all… Anyways, here’s her questions for you.”
Spring is when the world, well, springs back to life! Birds lay their eggs, flowers bloom, and even better new kits are often born. How does your clan handle the new abundance? Are they the sort to throw big parties or give solemn thanks before moving on with their lives? Do they like to use flowers as decoration or as a piece of a ritual? If they don’t have a seasonal celebration, do they have one for kits that are born?

Current Season: AutumnToday you find The Assistant sorting pages like their life depends on it. Does it? Hard to tell. You catch a glimpse of a particularly smart looking dormouse chittering loudly at them whilst they hastily flutter through pages. The only thing you can hear from The Assistant is something like ‘yes, yes… apologies to Ceres, Eir Liegeship…’
Alas, your approach startles away the dormouse. A shame; you would have liked to know more. However, The Assistant flashes you a grateful smile as they pass you a paper of questions.
“Ah, good, just in time. I have questions from Ceres for you. If you could put them in that basket over there when you’re done, that would be lovely.”
Autumn is a time of transition from life to death, light to dark, abundance to scarcity. Does your clan prefer to celebrate the abundance they have or mourn what is to come? What kind of celebration do they have? Is it more typical for them to use all the resources at their disposal to feast in preparation for the winter or do they prefer to conserve what they have and have lower energy celebrations?- Code: Select all

Prompt The swampish tom stares at the questionnaire, eyes narrowed as they read each question carefully. As if some sort of secret may lay hidden within the textual depths. "I'm not one for celebrations, really," the feline begins with a disappointed drawl, tearing their analytical gaze from the papers. "Never been to one myself.. though I guess I've heard whispers of a tradition here and there from apprentices or clients." They let out a long, laborious sigh as they take a seat, an ink-stained feather held firmly in their grasp.
Celebrations are often rather mundane. They serve no other purpose than to distract the celebratees from their own miserable lives. I do know those odd fellows that call themselves the "Blesseds" enjoy partaking in such frivolous diversions. They often host a grand feast- a royal waste of energy and resources, if you ask me. These buffoons hunt like a pack of wolves, it's an entire ordeal, really. As one large collective, they take down a hooved beast then feast like there is no tomorrow. Now I know that sounds pleasant and all but, seriously, it leaves quite the mess.
There is one part of this tradition I do respect. The only logical part of it, truly. After the grand feast, they pick apart the remnants of the hooved creature to use every bit of it. Some things are senseless- impractical pieces of bone jewelry or camp decorations made of teeth. However, credit where credit is due, every autumnal season, they clean the hide of the beast and use it to line their encampments. It's a way of preparing for the cold wintry nights. There's nothing warmer than sleeping beneath the cover of a deer pelt. Well, that's what my clients tell me and I don't have much reason to not believe them.

There is a low, quiet pause as the ghostly white tom thinks. Then, he speaks...
"There are no celebrations, or mournings, or anything of the sorts." He tapers off for a moment. "In the end, the season comes and it goes. It's pointless to hold onto the things that will inevitably come back to us."
His paws shuffle past one of the leaves, and he looks up at the ever-darkening sky.
"We have work to do. We do not have time to waste on these types of things."

The beginning of fall is certainly a sight to behold in The Pride. It is a time of great migration, as the prey they hunt begins preparation to move south. They call it The Leaf Hunt as they follow the changing color of the leaves southwards. The Pride comes together and every cat who is able hunts, gathers, and crafts for the journey. The Pride makes sure they have enough supplies to survive the journey in the safest way possible, staying moving when possible and hunting very little. This means bringing fresh kill, herbs, and the containers to hold them along. Their summer camp is near a human town and is a perfect place to find containers and other crafting materials.
After the supplies have been gathered on the night of the new moon there is a celebration, the Twilight Feast. All cats hunt during the day and bring all food back and everyone eats their fill. This is a great holiday for cats who often don't work together to catch up and relax together as well as building up moral for the large journey. There is also dancing, singing, and contests.
The contests consist of physical challenges such as tree climbing, wrestling, and most prey caught, but also consist of mental challenges such as puzzles. Winners of these contests have bright berries smashed across their chests to signify to others they are the best of the best and can be trusted during emergency. For the first few years Lion won most of the contests…
The event ends with all cats huddling up in the middle of camp and sleeping under the stars. The sky deity is the main guide during this time and it's vital that all cats get their blessing before the journey. Although cats can choose to sleep inside their dens it is frowned upon.

Ah, autumn. The cooling of the world, as the unbearable heat of the summer fades away, the pavement becomes more bearable to walk on, though at the same time the warmth will be missed. It's greatly appreciated by the cats with thicker coats, though more thin-furred cats may dread the coming cold.
There's no real celebration for the changing of seasons, as it's not something the clan tracks and it's seen as just a gradual change that happens when it happens. That being said, it's generally a welcome change as the clans diet changes with the season- relying heavily on twoleg's own diets for the bulk of their food, many twolegs start discarding very delicious meats around this time, especially turkey. Ham is there too, but it's incredibly salty and can make a cat ill if too much is consumed- turkey, on the other hand, is generally much safer to consume.
Unfortunately, any leaf piles are quickly cleared up, but before that happens, they can make fun toys to bring home to young cats, or for anyone to play with while on patrol in the park.
Have a JOYOUS day!Almond / Craig
