with the ending of another exciting day in stormire comes an answer you’d been searching for; you finally gather the courage to ask a passing stranger what in the world this impending event you’ve been hearing whispers of all day is about. they seem to be in a rush, and you only catch “—tomorrow's masquerade ball, of course!” as they hurry on by. how intriguing! maybe in the morning you’ll be able to uncover a bit more information about this upcoming ball?

though the whole of the city has been thrumming with energy for days, today it seems to have reached a peak. oddly enough, this swell in energy comes with a lull in festival activities: you attempt to visit the markets, only to find them closed for the day. in absence of the businesses you have become accustomed to, there are flyers posted on every corner, inviting the populace to a masquerade ball hosted in the city’s main hall this evening.

everywhere you look, you spy fables flurrying to get ready, running last minute errands and hurriedly straightening their best attire. after wandering the streets for the better part of the morning, basking in the exhilarating energy of the city, you decide it’s time to start your own preparations.

by sunset the city hall is aglow in a way you’ve never seen it before, lit by a glittering mix of candles arranged in chandeliers overhead and little firemoths darting about. the effect is dizzying, the entire venue flickering before your eyes as bejeweled fables meander by, many sporting extravagant masks that conceal their faces. you spot one figure you vaguely recognize in the sea of fables: the name lórien comes to mind, and you think you may remember him as being an heir to one of faerendell’s noble houses. perhaps if you venture further into the grand hall, you could glean some more.
