the letter had arrived without warning or explanation: an invitation to a far-away land you’d never heard of before called faerendell. you weren’t sure how it had found you, only that it asked you to visit and you had cautiously decided to accept. the next thing you knew, the ground seemed to tilt beneath your hooves, and the world you knew dissolved around you.

now, as you draw in a breath, you are certain it is not the air of home that fills your lungs. the horizon unfurls before you into a spired city of shining cobblestone and sloping sapphire roofs, latticed by canals of clear water glinting in the light of an unfamiliar sun. music drifts faintly through the streets, carried on a warm afternoon breeze.

today marks the beginning of a week unlike any other, the prelude to a long-awaited holiday: the 150th anniversary of stormire city’s sundering day. the streets ahead already hum with preparation for the celebrations, banners of jewel-toned silk rippling through the air on every corner. all that remains is to step forward and see where this strange invitation leads!

please note: this event is only as canon as you want it to be.
none of this needs to be considered 'real' in your fables lore, it's all just for fun! ♡

welcome to sundering day, a fables event brought to you by the world of faerendell! all users are welcome to participate, owner or non-owner. this will be an exploration-based puzzle game with prizes (mystery fables, tickets, the like!) raffled off at the end based on participation. the event will last for a total of two weeks: a day for sign ups, six in-game days each with a catch-up day in between, and a final seventh day upon which the truth behind the mystery will be revealed! prize rolls will take place the following day. you may post a sign-up form at any point throughout the event until the final closing post, so no need to stress if you've missed a day or two!

each in-game day, you can explore by filling out the provided form and posting it to this thread. 24 hours later (at cs rollover), a post will be made closing the current round, and after that point you may no longer edit your form. we will be pming the day's results to each user as exploring different locations will lead to different hints, so please make sure you have enough space in your inbox for at least six messages for this event. if you need help creating or using folders to store messages, feel free to dm me here or on discord (kyeza_) and i can show you how!

filling out the daily exploration form will earn you a maximum of two raffle entries per round, one per location. each location will have different hints, but will not affect your chances in the raffle. we will also have a bonus round before day seven where you can take a stab at solving the mystery that unfolds, and correct answers will be awarded extra raffle entries! feel free to discuss any and all hints and theories you may amass throughout the event on the discussion thread!

welcome to faerendell, a world of magic and mystique, of power and politics, of untouched lands and illustrious civilizations. today marks the beginning of the celebration of one very important day in faerendell's history: stormire city’s sundering day! somehow, you’ve been transported into this realm and invited to join in on the festivities leading up to the big day. your mind still whirling from the inter-dimensional travel, a choice is laid out before you: you may now align yourself with one of faerendell’s eleven noble houses—or choose to remain unaffiliated.

big on blood purity, and other houses
often find their ways rather ridiculous.

possible discipline. they deal in all
kinds of intel and knowledge, almost
using it as a currency. functions as a
sister house to faeloren.

smithing and the creation of constructs,
fable-made version of the living sprites
that inhabit faerendell. having recently
diverged from house maravil, they tend
to look down on the other houses.

minor house

centered around mining and smithing,
this house used to be large and powerful,
but has since fallen from greatness due to
the split between it and house thalorian.
those who remain are mainly purists of
their craft or elders who stand proud.

house myrmourn

wardens of the wyrmwood, this house’s
bloodline, and subsequently their favor,
has been dwindling for some time now,
as the forest they stand guard over falls
further and further into disrepair with
the passing of each new day.

essentially a merchant guild with many
little offshoot branches and settlements
spread across the continent. their most
influential barons of trade comprise
their highest level of nobility.

focused on the study of magic in fable life

them, this house is where the majority of
knowledge revolving around magic came
from. it was also the first noble house, and
functions as a sister house to eldemar.

focused on astronomy and astrology, they
live in isolation in their ivory towers atop
a mountain. their society revolves around
the idea of 'rings of influence', which are
determined by omens of the stars, as well
as the whims of the nobility.

widespread and influential, there are
still many fables who choose to remain
entirely unaligned, or at least do not
consider themself to be a part of any
particular noble house.

below are the locations available for you to explore during the festivities! you may visit two per in-game day. your choice of location will not affect your chances in the raffle, but each location will lead to different interactions, dialogue, and hints.

— THE STREETS —

the streets of stormire city are bustling with new faces from the farthest reaches of the continent and beyond. you're sure there's plenty to do here alone, but will you choose to stay on the streets, or will you follow their lead to a different location?

— THE EMBASSY —

one of the main buildings in the city proper, the premises of this structure are far less guarded than you'd expect for somewhere housing foreign dignitaries and the like. you find yourself wondering who you might run into if you choose to step inside.

— THE FOUNTAIN —

a wellspring of stormire's sacred magic-imbued waters, located in the very center of the city. many fables gather here and mingle under the gentle warmth of the sun; perhaps you could find someone to talk to here?

— A SUSPICIOUS ALLEY —

you can't help but notice this shadowed side street as you explore the city. you're not sure what it is about it, but every bone in your body tells you not to set foot in there. will you ignore that warning and venture in anyways?

note: the exploration form can be found in the opening post for
each in-game day, accessible by clicking the "current round" link
found at the top of this page when a round is open!

the door to the city’s grand hall is now latched, and features a paper flyer upon which the following message is scrawled: “esteemed residents and visitors of stormire: we apologize sincerely for the tragic and unforeseen events any attendees may have witnessed at the masquerade ball, and extend our deepest condolences to house lysandor.” it seems as though nobody will be allowed back into the building for the remaining days leading up to sundering day.

while the masquerade ball has now ended, you still have the opportunity to design a mask below if you haven’t already!

as an additional surprise, you have the option of designing and/or describing a mask for your fable to wear to the ball for a chance at winning a prize! prizes will be randomly rolled between all entries, but please keep in mind that the prizes will be based on the winners' designs. do NOT remove/edit the tag on your form or your post may be missed!
