❧ The group of four made their way towards the orchards with tails as high as their morale, chatting and, in Trixie’s case, practicing little shows of magic whilst they walked. She had to get back in the rhythm of things, after all, and a few sparkling spells to entertain on the walk was the perfect way to warm up.
❧ By this season the farmland is rich with its bounty; orchards of fruit-trees and berry-bushes are heavy with produce and perfect for a band of hungry catshee to find plenty to eat in. The band decides to split off; Sage and Fluffy set off for the fruits, while Trixie and Conan head for the berries.
❧ Trixie and Conan, more focused on their task, retrieved plenty of strawberries and blackberries; perfect for eating now, or canning for later. Sage and Fluffy did not get so much fruit initially. Their conversations went on, and they found themselves at a tree with particularly high branches. It would have been much easier to just try another tree, but enthused by the challenge, Fluffy climbed atop the tree and gracefully hopped from branch-to-branch before carefully dropping fruit to Sage, who set it aside (and skillfully avoided any apples to the noggin).
❧ That evening, they reconvened to share their spoils!

❧ Briar was very used to the local hunting grounds. He knew them like the back of his paw, knew where the best spots to hunt for at every time of the year were, and it was no different today as he set out with his bow. He travelled lightly, quietly, and efficiently, eyes peeled and ears pricked for the sound of any roaming prey. Eventually he found a good place to climb up into a tree, and wait there. Though Briar wore a bell around his neck, it was utterly silent; any cat worth their salt knew how to hunt without ringing bells, after all.
❧ Eventually something did come across his path. A boar—a small one, thankfully—that would have been a difficult prey for an unlearned hunter. Briar hunted well, and with effort brought it to the Archfey, wondering as he hauled the carcass, Why couldn’t they have done this?
❧ The Archfey that dwelled by the riverside was cleaning his fur when Briar arrived. The fin-tailed fairy regarded him with disinterest at the offering. Evidently it was… satisfactory enough, as Trinity begrudgingly offered a small reward—a single pearlescent seashell—and then shooed Briar away.

❧ Marigold certainly didn’t have to do much searching to find him; Dandelion had a habit of showing up whenever he was so much as thought of (if usually indirectly), and he was a hard cat to miss, even when he was hiding his wings. As always Dandelion wasted no time in a purring, friendly greeting when the gold-flecked fighter approached. “I’m always happy to help,” the Archfey encouraged. “And I never turn down willing company.”
❧ Marigold, unsure of where he should go next, asked Dandelion for some leadership, and got it… sort of. The Archfey explained a rumor he’d heard of a member of a nearby township looking for some lost curio along a larger trade road, and the two of them set off to try and find the curio. Sadly, they failed to find the lost item, but the adventure wasn’t all lost. Marigold offered to show Dandelion some battle maneuvers, and Dandy in turn offered advice how to find one’s way if they were lost. When they parted ways, it was with the promise that they might try again, if ever the opportunity presented itself.

❧ Yesterday’s Ashes and Today’s Problem added… an interesting dynamic of rowdiness to their growing band. Mostly Ash, really, but the four did not travel quietly as they got to know each other. Of course the others had questions about Purple Clouds’ band, questions that she vaguely answered or beat around the bush with. Luckily it was enough to deter further questions, but a keen eye from either of the newcomers could tell that her lost bandmates were bothering her far more than simply getting separated.
❧ They stopped periodically for food, drink, rest, and to navigate. Today seemed to know where he was going, using their breaks to scale trees and check their heading just in case, while Purple Clouds and Penny’s Worth foraged for something to tide them over. Yesterday’s Ashes idly chatted while setting up a campfire for the night, and the four found rest and woke up early the next morning to pack up their findings (some small food items and some fine weaving-branches Penny’s Worth had picked up, and a good firestarting stone Yesterday’s Ashes had found) and continued on.

❧ Certainly no spirits are dampened by the two catshee’s relative quietness; both are interested and attentive to their surroundings and each other. The trio are walking down a street when Dandelion spots a noble-looking, golden-furred cat and his ears prick up. “Oh!” he said, reaching to take Specter by the paw and pull him along (with expectation for Aster to follow), turning back with a smile. “This is a friend of mine! I think you’d like to meet.” Raising his voice to a friendly greeting, he called, “Hi, stranger! It’s been a while!”

❧ The leader forged ahead, followed closely by the fighter and—with hesitation only tossed aside by a fear of being left behind—the farmer as well. Even for a cat’s eyes the cave was dark, and it appeared at first to be simply a natural formation. Stalagatites hung down from the ceiling, occasionally dripping water like venom from a snake’s fangs. Minne stuck close to Eulalia as she glanced suspiciously around. All was quiet and they continued on. The path veered downwards, the cave getting chilly at these depths… then the cave floor seemed to shift below them. Not in movement, but in texture and material; rock that was either jagged or smooth from water erosion turned into flat stone.
❧ Ghoulwish was the first to realize they had begun to walk over stone tiles, and paused. “I wish we had a good light,” xe said, glancing about and moving more carefully now that xe knew xe were walking on artificial grounds. Ghoulwish ended up coming across a broken piece of some mineral; something that they realized looked almost like a coin or circular jewelry. Minne found another of a similar make. How odd!

❧ Charade leads the way; they are far more experienced with exploration of all kinds than Willow. But she trusts her friend, and follows as long as she can stand it. Charade seems to enjoy the adventure, practicing their skills of navigation and pointing out little tidbits to Willow in the meantime, but after a while Willow decides she would prefer to turn around, so they slip out of the cave formation and her fur flattens as she feels the crisp air of the surface again. Ah! Sunlight. The trip wasn’t all bad for her, though. As they were leaving, she spots some specific herbs—prime ingredients for certain enchantments!

Thea and Foxberry reconvene at the end of the day, finding a nice food stand to watch the sunset together and share their findings from the town. They both munch on fried fish, excitedly listening to the other.

Thea places the two fortunes on the table, a touch of embarrassment and shyness creeping into their voice. "I tried to tell them I didn't need payment, but it just started to feel rude to say no... But now I should have enough supplies to last for a while and have a little extra just in case." They laugh softly, nervously chewing on the stick the grilled fish had been skewered on. "The Catshees here are nice, maybe I'll stay in the area for a little longer..."

Foxberry nods his head, smiling, and having finished his fish quickly before Thea had. "Mhm! Honestly, I just walked around town all day talking, but there's supposed to be a great spring nearby. We could take a day to go find it and come back here for the next few days."

"If you'd want to keep staying together, absolutely."

"Great!"

Thea and Foxberry find a place to nest for the night, planning to wake early at sunrise to find the mysterious spring the locals talked up the whole day. In the morning, Thea packs a bag of snacks for the two, and they eagerly take off, even finding some treasures along the way.

Thea follows Foxberry's judgment and directions from the townsfolk as the two wander through the forest, hoping that they find the spring before it gets too late in the day...

It was hard really, to speak about them. As they traveled, each of the four cats realized they all had similar issues, talking about past bandmates. As time passed, trust formed as they helped each other out whether it be with food, shelter, or spades. Today's Problem spoke about what had happened with his band, and how while he was grateful they still lived he was sad they were no longer in his life. "I... hope to do better. Find out what I did wrong, so that it can never happen again. I swear, I will do whatever it takes to be a great leader one day that my bandmates can look up to!" Penny's Worth smiled at that before gently bumping her head against his shoulder.

"I think you're off to a great start, opening up like this! Plus, you've led us really well so far! Give yourself some credit!" She winks before considering something, tail flicking. "I uhm.. have no idea really what its like, living with a band. I've always been on my own, ever since I can remember! But thats okay! I've had so many good adventures, helping others with their dreams and making days brighter where I can!" All three of her companions looked at her, expressions somber.

"...But what about you?" Purple Clouds finally asked, voice soft.

"Well I er... that is..." she trailed off. "...Most bands think I am a strange wierdo, helping random people and animals. They stick around just how long it takes to make their dream happen and then... ah! Well it just leads to the next adventure ri- AH!" She stops, as all three cats stop to nuzzle into her. She keeps quiet a moment before sniffling. "T-thanks guys. Maybe after we get Purple Clouds home we can... well..."

"Half tempted to take you up on that!" Yesterday's Ashes chimed in. "I mean I ain't gonna lie, been havin' fun! Sure some of it is a bit wishy washy feelsy for my own tastes but eh... you lot have been tolerable. Plus SOMEONE has to keep your tails outta trouble!" That earned a laugh from the others, before Purple Clouds spoke quietly.

"We're here," she told the others. But, right away, all four could tell something was not right. As they walked into the little grove, shelters were reduced to rubble and smoke, splinters and ashes. The scent of death hung thick on the air, and there were signs of clear struggle. Broken touchstones, abandoned or broken to hurt their bearer. "I should look for them. Perhaps they are hiding somewhere?" Today's Problem immediately blocked Purple Clouds, shaking his head. They all smelled it, they all knew.

There was nothing left here to salvage. And what remained... "Penny, please take Purple Clouds to safety, Ash... with me. We will-"

"Yeah I know. I'll help." Penny's Worth was already gently herding Purple Clouds away, who did not say a word. Lost to her thoughts, numb. Whispering the words: "I should have stayed. I should have fought with them. I could have healed them. My fault, may fault, my fault..."

Today, the Catshee band was chasing down the end of a rainbow! -or chasing Fluffy, rather. Fluffy’s natural curiosity led them on a hunt down an ephemeral rainbow. Large, puffy clouds decorated the sky like icing and the brilliant, colourful light was simply hypnotising. Butterflies danced in the air like animated sprinkles as they sprinted by. “Can’t we just catch a break for one second?” Trixie yelled, but Fluffy pursued onward with an ecstatic smile. “We’re close, I’m sure of it!”

So down the river they went, past the lush forest and through a beautifully sunlit grove. Oceans of flowers endlessly flew by, scattering petals carried by the wind everywhere they went. “If we stop now, we won’t catch it!” Conan seemed to be struggling behind, but he shared the same enthusiasm nevertheless between hasty breaths. “Y- eah!” Trixie sighed as Sage smiled awkwardly. He couldn’t say no to a little adventure, but he usually enjoyed his adventures nice and slow, taking in the views rather than this chase.
