I like the fact that you used a small brush size to add in details for the mane and the background is pretty good too. as for the position that the horse is in, im not sure it matches the angle/perspective of the background. the head is too narrow and the ears are a bit out of place and a bit too long. Lastly the tail is K-9 ish because you used short strokes for the texture of it giving it an appearance of a tail that is long and has fur growing from it (like a dog/wolf); if you used long flowing strokes for the tail then it would work or pass as a horse's tail because horses have short tails with long hair growing from it to give it it's long flowing appearance.
Other than that the coloring and shading is very well done, as usual ^^ your very good at that :]
Hey hey, if you want to do a horse.. maybe you could do some Zelda fanart and do Epona <3

but the ocarina of time and majora's mask epona, not the twilight princess one because they made her brown and white instead of leaving her as a bay >:[ why? im not sure but i dont tink they should have done it ^^
well maybe because there aren't many bay's with half white and half black tails ^^
