People are just scared of them. Their howl can be wonderful or blood curdling (if you are in the woods alone at night). People, in general, fear other predators, it's a natural instinct. This same thing goes for most other animals. For example, 464 people were killed by sharks since 1580, world wide. Now this seems like a lot until you look at how many people the hippopotamus kill per year, which is around 300.
Another reason humans dislike wolves is the belief that they are the main predators of livestock. Now I have horses and I've never had a problem with them but for one particular farmer, it takes a huge toll out of his herd. Now we won't go into details about why this is the case, I will just say that the SPCA is involved and his horses are being taken from him. Now sheep are also in danger of being killed by wolves. Is it a huge death toll? No, however a farmer count a death as a death even if they have 100 sheep.
In the end, humans will always be animals and so we will always have a fear of predators no matter what the statistics say.

Wolves
are misunderstood. By wolfaboos, that is. /engage on-topic rant
- Wolves are not on the ESL (Endangered Species List), thus can and should be hunted in-season to ensure the population remains stable. Unfortunately, other species are not faring as well. Shark fins still flood the black market, as well as rhino horns, turtleshell soup, ivory, and worse 'treasures', such as gorilla hands, bear gall bladders, and musk deers' musk glands.
- There have been many cases of wolf attacks, and not all are because of rabies/defense/etc. with some resulting in one or more person(s) dead.
- Wolves are not pets. They are wild animals. Just because you've 'luvd dem 4ever' or 'undrstnd woofs bcuz I am 1' does not mean a. they, by some MIRACLE, won't kill you, b. You can find an actual wolf breeder, not a false Tamaskan Dog or even husky breeder. Not to mention it's illegal without the correct permit.
- If you accuse humans of 'hunting for luxury' or 'overhunting', then google "wolves surplus killing". Trolololo~
arcticwolf wrote:Why do people assume just because someone loves wolves, they think the animal is an angel that does no wrong? (...) Honestly, I'm getting sick of people assuming wolf-lovers are shallow idiots who only care about that species.
This is because of the extremely skyrocketing population of wolfaboos, wolf lovers driven to the point of suggesting 'human holocausts' or actually stating they are wolves trapped in a human body, or "i ripd a huntrz gutz out w/ my glwin prple clwz". It is a face-palming, head-desking, braincell-killing fest of idiocy. They use txt language like it's understood worldwide.
