Weird thing going on with somebody i used to know?

A few years back on CS, i was friends with an artist named 'Rocky Road Racoon' (or something like that, i know that was his username but im unsure of the spelling).

I was going through my old posts, when i saw i had commented on one of his drawings, and his user was just "Guest" - Forum/viewtopic.php?f=125&t=4851856&p=141617187#p141617187

and when i clicked 'Guest' it took me to this page, which i recognized as the thing you could claim your art from, from when CS lost a days worth of memory because of the server outage in 2012 - Forum/oekaki/gallery.php?user=1

I dont think his account was deleted, and I KNOW the art was his because he had a very recognizable artstyle. I checked on his account sometime last year and it was still up, so whats going on?

Staff can anonymize posts so that they are no longer linked to the account that made them and instead show the poster as "Guest". This can be done for a number of reasons, such as to preserve certain posts that the user no longer wants associated with their account but could be problematic to fully delete.

Ohh okay. Is there a way you could find their account again? I'd really like to say hi but when i look their user up, nothing. His username was like "Rocky Road Racoon" or something... not sure if staff have an advantage when looking up users or not 😭 (i can tell you its definitely not this guy)

You could send a help ticket to ask staff for help, but for privacy reasons, they most likely won't be able to share any information with you about someone else's account even if they're able to find it.

Unfortunately, if you aren't finding them with a username search and you don't have any contact with them outside of CS, I don't think there's much that can be done. They may have changed their name or had their account deleted. The only other thing I can suggest is to look through your inbox for any old messages you might have from them. If so and they simply changed their username or it's different than you remember, you would be able to find them that way. But if that doesn't help, you may be out of luck.
