Sparrow

~The world may come crashing down~

Sparrow staggered a few steps forward, trying to figure out what was going on. She darted a few steps towards an escape, but then stopped, anger rising in her throat. "I won't leave without you!" She growled, leaping through the ring of birds. She lashed out with teeth and claws, slashing at the creatures. "If we run, we run together. If we fight, we fight together." She declared, feeling searing hot pain flash through her body as the birds pressed towards them.

"Okay," Arissa replied, nodding. She turned and hurried into the forest, casting out for the sounds of other wolves. Recognizing Sparrow's voice, she turned towards her. She flattened her ears at the sound of multiple birds, and, though she couldn't see the other she-wolf, she called, "Sparrow!" One of the birds pulled away from the others and came at her; thinking fast, she propelled herself up into the air and latched onto the thing's throat. Biting hard, she felt the metallic flesh give way under her teeth. She released the creature and watched with satisfaction as it lopsidedly fluttered into the air, only to descend again as its wings failed it. [i]Well, that's one less bird to deal with,]/i] she thought.

"Thanks, Arissa." Sparrow panted, spinning and knocking an advancing bird away feebly with her paw. "We need to get out of here. To go anywhere.." She growled, her emerald green eyes narrowing as she let her hackles raise. She hated fighting...and these birds were plain creepy and terrifying. She glanced over at Huster, hoping he was alright.

Storm darted through the trees, his talen like claws digging into the earth. "Are you alright?" He called to Arissa, Sparrow, and Huster. He picked up speed, and pulled up to a stop beside Arissa and Sparrow, his hackles raising. "We need to keep moving, come on!" He barked sharply, jerking his head in a motion to tell the others to follow.

Conan growled softly to himself, trying to outrun the beasts that were beginning to take to the air after him. All around him, he could hear the cries of them, and of other wolves. He had no idea where the rest of the pack was, since he was so focused on getting away from the strange enemies behind him. He didn't turn, or try to see how far ahead he was in front of the bird beasts. Conan continued to run, his legs pumping and his tail streaming out behind him. His ears were laid back, his hackles were raised, and his sleek black fur was ruffled from the movement and effort of keeping up a fast pace. He dodged around a large rock, and cleared a small stream in one bound, one thought hammering into his mind with the beat of his stride. Find the Pack. Find the Pack.

Amara felt a distant sensation of herself being nudged, then dragged, then carried. Then she felt the ground beneath her again, and foggy voices. She pressed herself against the ground, snuggling against the clean grassed. It was so nice... "There... Much better. Now, could you... Kites voice, ragged and broken by heavy breathing. She could feel the sticky paste soaking into her wounds. It ahd only stung slightly when Kite had applied it. Now it felt much better. The she-wolf opened one eye and coughed. "Kite...? Are you alright?" Her voice was small.

If you said 'It's alright'
I'd believe you.

If you want to mess with me,
I'll tear you to pieces,

Shadow grabbed the bird in his maw as it went for his face. It sent firey pain up and down his mouth like a water current. But he kept his teeth clamped down on the beast, rolling over and getting to his feet, then he began to swing it. Around and around again he rolled his head, smashing it against the ground every time. THen he threw it up into the tree branches. It caught the wind with it's glittery wings and seemed to hobble off in flight. It seemed a bit confused. That was good, and it made Shadow snarl with savage triumph. The feline-cross turned around, surveying the clearing.

Because, the truth is,
I feel like a Monster.

"No need to thank me," Arissa replied, her jaw a little sore from biting the bird. She glanced over at Huster and Sparrow. "Are either of you hurt?" she asked. "Kite has healing supplies. I was trying to round everyone up so he could see to everyone." She ducked as another bird swooped at her, but she let it fly onwards--It took too much energy to take them down. A second bird came in and nipped at her paw; she struck it with her other paw and sent it rolling into a tree. The thing let out a cry, then took to the air again. Fortunately, it kept its distance this time.

In summer I can taste the salt in the sea,
There's a k i t e blowing out of control on a breeze...
Kite steadily pounded more and more berries and leaves, until he had enough paste to heal quite a few wolves. Then he sat back, concentrating on steadying his breathing. Hearing a soft cough, he glanced round, spotting Amara with one eye open. He smiled broadly, padding over to sit next to her. "Yes... it's me. I'm quite... Alright... But its not me we should be... Worrying about. How... Do you feel?" Curling his tail around himself, Kite stole another look around the clearing, hearing the whirring of the birds' wings nearby along with the sound of voices. He hoped that they were alright. Turning back to Amara, he noted how weak she looked. "Can you eat? Take one... Of these." Nosing a small strip of dried meat towards her - which he had saved, dried, and soaked in watered down berry juice to keep it from rotting - the young wolf watched her with concern. If only they were back at the camp, it would be easier to treat her - and the rest - in the healer's cave. But they would have to make do here.

Sky kept on walking until she could smell some of the members of her pack. Finally. She thought. Picking up her pace to a run, the grey wolf finally came across a group of wolves. Kite, Amara, Arisaa and a few other were there. "I sure am glad to see you guys." Sky said with relief.

River kept on doing what he was doing. Eventually he got bored with the same old routine, and decided to just swim around until he got bored with that. The grey wolf jumped into the water and swam around, looking at all the rocks and plants.

Manga felt like gagging, smelling the blood mixed with water and who-knows-what-else he vomited up, however he was grateful for Aurora's kind gesture; maybe she won't leave me, was the thought that crossed his mind, although it wasn't the most concrete thing he was convinced of yet.

He tried to move, when she heaved him onto her back; but his muscles were still weak, and if he moved, she might have an even harder time. He hatd this, actually -- the feeling of vulnerability and helplessness was one he always avoided. He hated depending on others, especially as he knew that eventually, they would turn their back on him and leave him to die...

He opened an eye blearily. Would Aurora leave him? Maybe she would, like all the others. Well, he wouldn't give her that chance--

He moved, and as he did he fell off her back with a loud THUMP to the ground. They were outside the cave by now and the wolves in the clearing would definitely hear the noise he made, and see them outside the cave.

Kite jumped up as he heard a voice behind them, and he whirled round, spotting Sky. "Sky... You're hurt!" He glanced at the wounds on her back quickly, the hurried to scoop up the leaf. Then he moved towards her, his brow furrowed as he concentrating on covering the talon marks on her back. "There... All better." Stepping back, he dropped the leaf back onto the hide, then motioned with his head for her to sit down. "The birds... Haven't come through here... Yet," Kite cleared his throat, frowning as he tasted his own blood. "I think you... Can rest here a while." He stepped away from the both, shaking his head in annoyance at himself. What was wrong with his voice? Why was he breathing like this? And why on earth did he feel so weak, as if he was about to collapse? And then, through the trees, he heard it. A thump, and the sound of ragged, laboured breathing.

Without looking back, Kite bounded through the trees, his paws hitting the ground unevenly and knocking him off balance. Spotting two wolves, both covered in blood. He recognised one of them, it was - "... Aurora!" He gasped, sliding to a stop and staring at them. Advancing more slowly, he looked from her to the male wolf - who was obviously a loner, as Kite hadn't seen him before. "If you come... With me, I can heal... Your wounds."
